My 8 y/o twin boys loved this place! The replica of the B-17 with mannequins in place was great. Behind the plane replica was a memorial with plaques naming the crew.

My youngest twin wants to go into the military then become a police officer. When I explained to him what the plaques meant at the bottom of the steps leading up to the platform, my little boy kneeled down on one knee put his chin on his fist & bowed his head. When he stood up I asked him why he did that. Those beautiful brown eyes looked at me and he said I just felt like I needed to.

I have never felt so much pride in him for honoring the crew that lost their lives decades before he...

This is a really lovely park in an extremely rural setting. It is very well done and well maintained. I appreciate the history and the reason for the park in this location (a WWII crash site.) I am glad the memorial exists for the families of those who died in the crash as well as the memorial for local soldiers lost in other wars. The B-17 replica is absolutely something to see for perspective. Though I have seen many pictures and videos with B-17 planes, I have never stood close enough to get a real feel for the size and the tight spaces soldiers were put into. It is sobering to consider...

This memorial park is a wonderful tribute to not only the crewmen who lost their lives in this crash, but to those in who likewise gave the last full measure of their devotion for our country's freedom. A lot of meticulous work and detail went into creating this replica of the B-17, "Flying Fortress" Bomber. The memorial park is well maintained. It's a great place for a family picnic with a covered shelter over picnic tables. Grant County Road 51 is freshly paved all the way from Highway 35. It's a great place to visit and learn about history that must not...

A little off the beaten path but we’ll worth it. Amazing memorial to the airmen who perished during training at the location and also to the local veterans of Grant County. Often we memorialize the men and women who died in battle but we often overlook the ones who perished before they had a chance to enter the actual wars. During WW2, the United States lost over 15,000 airmen who died in training. This memorial does a great job commemorating the men who died at this location.

This place is a great tribute to the lost members of the flight and to Jerry Jackson, the scout who got it started. When we moved to Sheridan in 1983, the plaque was in a mud hole just off a dirt road with trees and brush around it, almost unnoticeable from the road. The group took that plaque and built an amazing memorial around it! Who would have thought? I would highly recommend visiting if you happen to be in the area!
