We visited the BCC a couple of times during their opening week and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the experience! As advertised, It's a different kind of venue - not your father's bbq joint. It is a dirt road, open air, and rustic place with good food, good beer, good service with good times to be had.
Let's start with the food - it was excellent! In addition to the brisket, pulled pork, and pulled chicken BBQ standards, they also have cool takes on sandwiches, tacos, shareable apps and sides. There are a few things I'm still waiting to try because, yes, they ran out of some menu items. They were extremely busy and most of what they offer takes hours to prepare. Is it a few bucks more than your typical "hole in the wall" bbq place - yes, but in my opinion the quality of the food and atmosphere are worth a little premium.
The beer line moved pretty quickly, the food line was definitely slower, but again, they were very busy for an opening week and they'll fine tune the process. I did spend a couple of hours in line for food, but I've also checked in with the hostess of some 🔥 new restaurant in Charlotte and have been given a buzzer with a 60 minute wait time. There I waited at a bar and had $15 cocktails and at BCC, I had my wife bring me a $5 beer while I chatted with folks in line. At BCC, my kids had something to do - explore, corn hole, trail walking...at the 🔥 new restaurant, they're sitting at a table and playing on their phones. BCC for the WIN!
We'll definitely be back and will invite friends to join us. We'll go there for good food, good beer, and good music and expect to leave with a dirty truck, maybe a little mud on our boots...or at least mud on the kid's Crocs, because it is a farm on a dirt road.
This place is so much fun and we're all very excited for it to be in our neighborhood. Go there knowing what to expect and enjoy the experience! Best of luck to the...
Read moreTo give context: We have been so excited about this company and have been rooting for them to do well since this past Spring when we first read about them. We signed the petition when there were permitting issues and have followed them in anticipation of their opening. We went last night and were extremely disappointed. The good: The bar/drinks line and Creamery lines were well managed, efficient, and well staffed with people who knew what they were doing and did it well. The bad: The food experience. My husband got in the line to order food before 4:30 and was in line waiting to order for 55 minutes. Nobody goes out for the evening to be separated from their family or friends and stand in a line for just under an hour to order food. While I was holding seats for us, I was getting texts from my husband that the line hadn't even moved for 10 minutes, etc. When he finally ordered, (there was one cashier), and got our number, we moved to seats at the bar directly where the servers come out with the plates of food. He made certain our number could not be missed by the servers. 35 minutes later we got our food which had clearly been walked all around the venue before the server was headed back to the kitchen with it and realized the number he was looking for was right there. The food was tepid by that time, and we were informed that part of our order was sold out. There were all kinds of staff behind the counter at the food prep area doing absolutely nothing but chatting with each other. We saw so many parts of the process that could be easily fixed - I had to restrain my husband from pulling the GM aside to share them with him. We absolutely want them to be successful - we need this kind of a place here and loved the venue - but they really need to get the food kinks worked...
Read moreWe arrived and set up at the bar where we found out from another unhappy patron, not staff, that you have to stand in line to order drinks rather than them wait on you at the bar; which is set up completely like a tap house bar style where one would assume they would take your order seated.
We were here with a group of friends who had children with very little options to keep their children entertained outside of ice cream. From prior experience of working in a food establishment, I will say I watched more than 5 employees touch their face, trash or other objects and return to the kitchen in the same gloves to prepare meals that were then served and sent out. Including the “head chef” who was also not wearing a beard net in a kitchen. We did not finish our meals which were over-smoked, dry and overpriced.
My spouse decided to play disc golf to try out the course and paid the fee to do so, when he asked where to grab equipment to participate he was then informed that you have to bring your own or purchase a $14-20 set on site to participate. Since he was not informed of this before the purchase of the course to play he asked for a refund which he was promptly denied.
We were below unsatisfied with our experience after hearing rave reviews from others in the area and are not sad to see this place go since they definitely don’t offer a unique experience, friendly staff nor properly handled food items...
