Recently my amazing fiancé and I had a date set to get married at Ponzi vineyards. We were very excited about the day and the venue and were off to a great start.
Recently they changed event managers and so we had a meeting with the new manager in charge. This is where things started to go downhill. When we met with the new manager, she tried to tell us that there would be potential increase charges due to the previous managers mistakes. We were uneasy about this because we had a signed contract already in place and a set budget. Although this was frustrating, we were willing to work with ponzi to come to a reasonable solution. This is when things took a turn for the worst
Later in the meeting we were talking about the venue and communication in the coming days regarding the wedding details and the manager thought it would be a good idea to share her beliefs about the insignificance of Martin Luther King day and why people celebrate. This hurt to hear these comments because it made me understand how certain people can still have such divisive beliefs. MLK himself is a prominent figure for his courage to fight oppression and unite people of all colors. My Fiancé and I wouldn’t be where we are if it weren’t for Dr. King and other courageous leaders. These comments were unethical and really made my fiancé and myself feel unwelcome at Ponzi
We were beyond frustrated with new manager for her discriminating comments along with her unethical practices of breaching contract. We requested to speak with the owner in order to see if we could have someone else work on our wedding so that we could still have a special day. We asked that the owner call us back and yet she decided we were not worthy enough of her time, and told us via email that whatever the manager says goes.
This was disheartening because we were so excited about our big day yet it is clear and obvious that Ponzi Vineyards doesn’t accept all communities and has corrupted values. It’s starts from the ownership and trickles down throughout their management. I write this all to share our story about our encounters with ponzi vineyards and their unethical values so that people know that their business is flawed and...
Read moreWow. The customer service was not good. I have been visiting Ponzi for 30 years. I used to buy their wines at full price for my restaurant. We attended a " lawn concert" last weekend. Paid $90 for 2 tickets. This included a glass of wine. We arrive and there was no one at the front. There were people in the tasting room so I would imagine they could have just strolled in to the concert for free. No one was checking. Well there was no concert on the lawn. They moved it inside and there were no available seats. We had to sit outside. The band was an acoustic guitar and a conga drum. Not a band like we expected. We couldn't hear them outside. Something you would expect at a coffee house for free. We had to ask for the wine and the pour was at the level to be expected, as ponzi has gotten expensive. We mentioned our disappointment to who we thought was a manager. We asked if we could buy an overpriced jacket, and she said they were given to the staff. She came back with a blanket and touted it as new. When we got home there was a massive hole in the used blanket. Bye ponzi or Bollinger or whoever took you over. Update: After the rep of customer experience requested I call her, I was made to feel like my bad experience was my fault. Excuses and defending employees over customers. Why was I asked to call them, so they could blame me? Ridiculous. After reading more bad reviews on over charging it makes sense. Why not just sell it to bollenger and take your name off it, ponz? Revamp your customer service team please. I'm pretty sure she put me on speaker phone and hope they had a good chuckle over an...
Read moreIf I could give lower than 0 stars, I would. We came to Ponzi Vineyards excited after friends recommended it, especially since we had family visiting from Japan experiencing their first wine tasting in Oregon. We arrived around 1:15 PM and were greeted by a hostess who seemed uninterested from the start. When we asked about a table without a reservation, she irritably said yes, but only outside.
We ordered 5 flights, a charcuterie board, and even an extra bottle of wine—yet the service was still slow and inattentive. The first two tastings arrived promptly, but the remaining three dragged on, with our final pour not arriving until around 3:30 PM with 20-30 min between pours. No wine tasting should take that long. When I went inside to check in, the staff became defensive rather than apologetic. The last three pours were rushed, with little to no explanation, and two of them weren’t even delivered by our original server.
The entire experience felt unwelcoming and uncomfortable, to the point it came across as discriminatory. I’ve been to many wineries in the area, and the customer service elsewhere has been far more warm and attentive.
Yes, the vineyard and views are stunning—but service matters. Sadly, Ponzi fell far short, and we won’t...
