It only took 10ish years to get this park, so I use it as much as I can. The park is well maintained by the city parks department and there are always enough doggie bags for everyone (though many people don't use them). The drinking water fountain works well and the grass is always cut. The primary problem I have with this dog park is that there is no practical way to enforce the rules. Several times when I have been here, people have brought aggressive dogs that they don't control. A dog that is aggressive AT ALL does not need to be at the dog park. I have a large lab that I do not bring because he is aggressive towards other male dogs. The last time I was at the dog park someone brought a dog that started multiple dog fights forcing everyone but him to leave for their dogs safety. I wish there was a way to force the owners of uncontrolled, aggressive...
Read moreI found this place when googling dog parks, so that my Great Dane can exercise and socialize. I am so glad I was able to find this park, my pup loves to run up and down the hilly terrain and get in the pond to cool down. All the dogs are constantly smiling as big as they can the whole time they are there. I love that we found a place where dogs can play with friends and run off alone to release energy all while knowing that he can't run outside of the fenced area. This place isn't just to socialize dogs, I have benefitted greatly with the human interactions that all have been very pleasant and it is crazy to think that one fenced in field ignites conversations with new people of differnt walks of life that we may never have talked to other wise. I give this park 5 stars wishing it could be 10. Definitely not...
Read moreComing from a bigger city, where we frequently used the largest dog park in the metro, I was quite surprised with how good this dog park is in Shreveport. There’s a smaller park with a small pond for little dogs. And then the larger main park for all other sizes with a much larger pond (gator proof) and a walking track. Usually stocked with plenty of waste bags. Our dearly departed lab retriever loved swimming in her old age. Our current dogs love sprinting and the rolling hills break their line of sight enough to give them stimulation just running around and exploring. I was going to give this 4 stars for lack of trees. But a covered rest area and a large trees outside of the park create some shaded areas. This park is definitely better than the one we left in our previous home city and i gave...
