My boyfriend and I spend a decent amount of time tasting and exploring wines. The wine tasting experience here at Flying Leap was probably the worst we've ever experienced; which is such a disappointment since I've had their wines before.
When we were finally able to look at a menu for the tastings, we weren't given the option of different tastings. Only one option (to include buying the glass) for $23ish even though the menu had tasting options between their regular and reserve wines, which forced us to try several wines we had no interest in.
The server who was running the tastings admitted she usually runs their spirits side (no big deal, we understand being understaffed). Unfortunately, she was terrible. The pours for the tastings were extremely small (1-2 tiny sips at best) and her explanations for each wine were generally incorrect. I would have rather she poured our wines with no explanation and we could have spent time on the patio.
Overall, it was an expensive waste of time. Go somewhere else with...
Read moreFlying Leap is hands down the best juice in the west. The care, knowledge, and experience, can be tasted in every sip of any one of there incredible wines. We have been repeat customers for many reasons. Not only the wine and atmosphere, but the staff as well. Mark the owner will treat you like a long lost friend, even if it's his first time meeting you, always making you feel like family. Gabriel, is an incredibly knowledgeable sommelier and can tell you anything you would ever want to know about the wine you are drinking. conversation with him kept us constantly coming back and ultimately was a major reason why we signed up for the wine club( which I highly recommend you take advantage of) We feel like we are visiting family when we visit flying leap. Being from Tucson, it is awesome that they have a tasting room in town, but just an hour away is an incredible property...
Read moreWe had a mixed experience here. Nice venue in that it was modern and unique in that it had a wine vineyard/tasting room venue and a distillery/tasting room. The issue - to warn you- is if half your group wants to try one side of the building (eg taste wine), you can’t visit or be with the other half of your group drinking/tasting spirits! Also, our DD (designated driver aka not even drinking) dropped a glass as we was trying to carry 3 glasses with some tastes of wine to the table. Which begs the question… why were the staff not serving the tastes, and after it broke why did they jump to clean it up vs letting us do it? (I mean we offered to clean it up but really did not expect them to hand us the broom and dustpan. I do have to say it was 4:45 and they had a 4pm closing time - but still…that seemed “odd”. We did like the wine…did not really like the...
