DO NOT BOOK! Absolutely a nightmare for a wedding venue. We had so many issues with Judy. We went to visit and Judy and Richard and they seemed so nice and lovely. We showed them pictures of what we wanted for our meal (as they have their “own” caterer and prices are all inclusive for their venue) simple Italian pizza with a meat and cheese table for apps-we even sent picture via email to confirm they fully understood what we wanted before signing the contract. Months go by and they come back to us saying that is way to expensive and they won’t make any money on our wedding. And that we can have hamburgers and hotdogs! We are not paying thousands of dollars for hamburgers and hotdogs at our wedding! That was the first issue.
Second issue we could NEVER get ahold of anyone to try and resolve this problem. Tried for weeks and no answer. Finally when we heard back Judy was VERY rude. She told us we are “unreasonable” and “she just wants to get our wedding over with”. We had to actually start recording and keep track of what she said because she very rude and kept going back on every word she said....she would not give us our money back, so we were going to just cancel and lose our deposit of $3800 that is how bad it was.
We had the option of choosing the barn or the stables for our wedding. We chose the barn. Our friends did also who were having a wedding there. They received a call saying the barn didn’t pace inspection so they can’t have there wedding and gave them their money back. Never received a call from Judy telling us this. So finally after weeks of badgering and calling we got ahold of her and she tried to tell us we had chosen the stables and was not getting our money back, also tried to convince us the barn was never an option (as they took down the barn feature in their website after they found out the inspection failed) (lies, lies, lies) but we had a previous picture saying we can have our first dance in the barn. Also we contacted the county about the inspection to clarify. After that she sent our money back....such a night mare.
Now it’s too late to book another venue this year, family had to cancel their airline tickets, we are out a loss of deposits for photographer, dj, makeup, hair, and invites! I would hope they would feel some remorse for ruining a woman’s dream of a wedding but I know they don’t. All I can do is advise other brides and grooms to NOT book here.
UPDATE to JUDY RESPONSE..none of what you said is true. We sent pictures of exactly what we wanted for our dinner and appetizers in emails before signing contract and was assured this would happen. As well as our parents and us in person we explained over and over again and assured we could do this for the pricing. In the contract it never stated any additional food except what we discussed. You Then said we could do only hamburgers and hotdogs for our price of $98 per person. So please do not lie to the public. This is a serious issue when it comes to spending thousands of dollars on a wedding and I would absolutely hate for others to have his happen to them. Obviously these same issues have happened to several other people including several people we know personally. The only reason we got our money back is because we called the county and they told us your inspection did not pass. YOU on the other hand did not even call us telling us these issues, or giving us an option of canceling. We had to call you several times to even get a response. Please accept responsibility for your...
Read moreIt pains me to write this review. Owners Richard and Judy are very kind people that were hit with some challenges over the past year. My wife and I wanted to support them through it because they were so sweet and we felt very welcome when we first visited the venue. Prior to their situation we were already taking a huge leap of faith with them as the venue was still very new and many of the redevelopment projects were incomplete or had not yet begun. Challenges aside, they continue to have a business to run, and we were their customers paying a lot of money to work with them. I don’t want other couples to experience the “business” that we did. Sadly, I’ve felt obligated to tell other prospective wedding couples of our experience in dealing with the Red Barn Guest Ranch so they do not have to deal with what we endured. Before I get too far along, I want to say that the venue itself is beautiful. Our wedding guests had a great time and many stated that this was the most beautiful wedding they had ever attended. At the end of the day, this is a major goal when planning out your wedding. From that stand point, the day was a success. That said, my wife and I did a very good job at shielding our family and friends from the excessive and unnecessary hurdles that we were hit with. As a couple that was married at the RBGR it was important for me to note the experiences we met every step along the way leading up to the wedding, and spiraling out of control on our wedding day. As you will see from my review, the owners of the Red Barn Guest Ranch really should rethink their decision to continue doing business in this market space as they are doing it all wrong, and in their current situation, in dire need of a management team that can lead. Important things to note, this venue has only existed for about a year, so there are obvious growing pains, but the owners have been in the wedding venue business for over 40 years. They basically did the same exact business in California prior to opening this site in Colorado. I state this because in my opinion many of the simple questions and situations that we had, should have been templated/documented answers, and some of the hurdles should not happen when dealing with a 40+ year old business. In other words, most of this should have been old hat, but everything seemed brand new and completely unexpected to them. I also should add that we did not hire a wedding planner in effort to cut costs. The wedding was planned by my amazing wife. This was the first wedding for the both of us, and we are far from experts. Some who read this review may point to that as the issue, but I assure you working with RBGR made this process increasingly more difficult then it needed to be. I’m choosing a bullet list as I have so much to say I believe the issues would be lost in the mix otherwise.
Unfortunately, my list of complaints is so long it exceeds the character limit for google reviews. In summary, Judy, Sue, and Tammy are a nightmare to deal with and it felt like they were trying to destroy our wedding day of. Stay as far away from dealing with them as you can!!!!
They made my wife cry at least 2 times on her wedding day, please keep...
