Found this place while researching rockhounding in the area. Really a unique little place - and found some fun rocks for the kids. No real clear signage, but trails are pretty evident. Only saw a couple other people, including a really nasty older couple who yelled at us about staying in trail and masks. We wear masks - it was just odd they did a 180* to come at us - while we were alone and social distancing. I’m sure they’re local and walk around the area.

Accesible to most anyone of any ability. Not steep at all in my opinion and we wandered around to the top over an hour or so. Trail markings are oddly disparate and sparse but it’s fairly obvious what you’re doing. I have lived near Boulder CO open space (IMHO the epitome of what open space can be) and traveled widely and this is as nice an open space thing as you’d want and a pleasant side adventure in a town as anti-complex as Silver City.

Truly an excellent place for a quick hike. When I was growing up in Silver City in the 70s and 80s the area was a semi forbidden space for a kid to explore. Now it's a nice place for a hike. Please realize the area is very rocky and the trails reflect this. A good pair of hiking boots is highly recommended.

Excellent views with excellent access right in town. Rocky trails that are never too steep keep you awake. Lots of interesting mining relics, some hidden buildings, and lots to think about while enjoying the Pinos Altos Range to the North, Burros to the South, Cooke's Peak to the East, and the borderlands even further south. Fun and technical mountain biking and trail running. Easy connections to the La Capilla Wetlands or San Vicente Creek for longer outings. There are also geocaches...
