UPDATE: False alarm! False alarm! 🚨 Turns out My dog has preexisting damage to his spine he infact DID NOT get sick from the water. He played too hard here, having a blast and it triggered his injury. I left my original post up just in case someone formed an opinion on what I last said hopefully they see this update!! BIGELOW hot springs was an easy find with easy parking. Just follow the trail to the right of the bridge and you’ll run into the spring. BUT I wouldn’t recommend coming during the winter it’s cold bath water. Definitely worth bringing your dog to polar plunge with you with an easy 3 minute trail back to the car to warm up!
BEWARE! I was there 1/27/2023 with my dog and now he is sick. I heard about hot springs killing dogs because it’s too hot but this hot spring is more like cold bath water it’s not even hot so I don’t believe that’s the case. This morning I woke up and my dog was under my bed and he’s been there all day. I was hoping it was a bug of sorts but he hasn’t puked, refuses to go to the bathroom, nothing is moving from under the bed. His routine has maintained the same other than going to Bigelow hot springs. He played in the river and In the little cave area. DONT BRING YOUR DOG. 😥 Anyone have a similar experience with advice? Taking him to the vet tomorrow.

Read moreIf you think that pooping on the ground in the parking lot and covering it up with toilet paper, makes it just "go away?", then you have lost your mind and your privileges to enjoy nature. Further more, if you were the one that pooped right next to the hot spring in the water and then put a rock on top of it, please do that on your own couch when you get home. No photos, you're welcome..

Read moreEasy to find with a parking lot. Turn in on Deer Creek Rd. between mile markers 14-15 on HWY 126. I haven't been there for over a decade and was looking forward to my visit. There was sketchy activity in the parking area with several cars (CA plates) that looked like people were living out of them along with apparent "transactions" happening. The path down to the hot springs is to the left of the bridge and easy to identify. There are a few spots along the river where people have put rocks to mark swimming holes and then you reach the springs, which come from a bit of a cave to the edge of the river. For that reason in winter and spring they will be cold with river water mixing too much in the spring. The water was murky and warm enough. I'd say maybe 102. Unfortunately there were two apparently vagrant young people who made the spot into their living room with personal items hanging from tree limbs and strewn around the edge of the spring. It was uncomfortable, awkward and lame. Not adding photos of the...
