HOPE AND PRAY YOUR ANIMAL DOESNT END UP HERE. If I was able to give negative stars I would about this "shelter". My husband was just there to see if our cat Pumpkin might have been at shelter. She's been missing, and we have exhausted all efforts to find her including checking all the shelters, this was our last hope of finding her. He tried to explain to them about our missing cat, and they would not even entertain the idea of letting him look for her there. My husband was told we weren't in city limits, but we live literally 300 yards from the limits. Is it possible that she could have been still picked up by someone and brought there???? THEY DIDNT EVEN ENTERTAIN OR OFFER HIM A CHANCE FOR HIM TO LOOK IN THE KENNELS... THEY WERE BOTH RUDE, ESPECIALLY THE DARK HEADED LADY, there was another older lady there that wouldn't even get up out of her chair to take his lost cat paper work, he was told rudely to just leave it on the desk, with all his personal information for everyone to see. He walked out without knowing rather they took the paper work or not, most likely it went into the trash, because this shelter has such "STAR EMPLOYEES", their attitude was as if he was bothering them... Then why the heck are you there... WRONG BUSINESS LADIES! Best you find another job that enhances your customer service skills, or lack of... maybe take a class on COMPASSION, or anger mangement class.... WHAT A JOKE ! FINE SPECIMEN OF EMPLOYEE you got there at this shelter. EMPLOYEES OF THE YEAR! Or if they donate their time, find somewhere else to donate your time, like throwing garbage into a garbage truck... Picking garbage on the side of the road, where your negative attitudes dont matter. With these two ladies at the front desk with such "fine customer service skills". It's very suprising this establishment ever gets animals adopted or back to their owners... At anytime... Wow... What an experience.. All we wanted was to see if she was there, and hope to find her and get her home. We were already heart broken, and this just made it worse. I will say this to the ladies at the desk, I hope that your never are put into this position and treated this was, because you certainly wouldnt like it... Isnt it suppose to be treat someone like you would want to...
Read moreThey say they are a air conditioned place. This may be true for the cats and for the humans that work there. The people who helped us look at the dogs were sweet and very kind. The lady that was working the desk Monday afternoon had an attitude problem. She was very rude to us when we asked about heartworms on a blue pit. All we needed to know is if "Ya-Ya" tested positive or not. She also made us out to be dumb. "She is a pit bull". YES we were very aware of her being a pit lady. We live on 2 acres of land and wanted her to be an indoor dog. We wanted to give her a loving home along with our other animals that we have in our backyard farm. But she didn't want to even listen to us. I understand that you are trying to protect the pits from bad people. But don't judge us. My husband and I are in our 30's, both have job, we take care of our animals. We have children and Ya-Ya would have been happier with us then your small kennel! It is really sad. Oh Btw, I use to be a vet tech so I actually know how to care...
Read moreSorry for the people who wrote the one/twostar reviews. We had nothing but a positive experience. My favortie breed is a rescue, and I can see the staff doing the third degree on someone getting a pit. I wasn't there, so I don't know the whole story, but I can't imagine anyone working at an animal shelter that doesn't have the animals' happiness and security in mind, JMHO.
We saw our pet online, went to see her with our grandson, and decided to adopt her. Did they call my vet? Sure. I don't mind, I have a good relationship with my vet and my previous pets. I don't know how to address vetting with a first time pet owner. There's got to be some way.
So, I mostly wrote this to tell people that I think this shelter appears to be well run, and my pet adoption experience was great. We're thinking of going back and getting a sibling...
