Beautiful place! Calm refreshing breath of fresh air. There are no bbq or firepits, you will need to bring your own. No pets allowed and if at all possible do not set yourself near the kayaks or rafts launching base...noisy and very busy with 12 seater coming n going all day long..so much for fresh air! Be careful with your kids there. There are life guards on site. We were there on a Sunday so lifeguards were on site after 11am. The bathrooms are immaculate on seeing that a few years ago it was compost toilets. There are no showers, a bit disappointed, because perhaps most folks would like to rinse off...well at least i may have missed it. There is an area to change though. There is no consession stands either. Be prepared for loud music from some individual picnic site and be prepared for all different types as well. Also be prepared for folks occupying 3 to 4 tables for their families arriving later..a new system needs to be in place to prevent this. Bugs are there to welcome you as well so bring armed forces. You will need to drink all the alcohol at home before coming into this park because the sign clearly states that in english and spanish. The park rangers torments you enough to actually come in your picnic area and can ask to open your coolers. Be warned they do give summons...so drink it all at home. The maintenance staff we friendly and amazing. All i think for me i will be visiting more NY/NJ State Parks from now on. I don't think I appreciate someone stepping on to each and everyones picnic site to look into everyones coolers and basically to scrutinize everthing else. I can understand if there are reports, but never as long as coming there have i seen any disturbances. But this is my last time i think....so long PA you're not the ONLY...

And you know what, I'm glad we honestly didn't read the prices right because we accidentally paid 6$ but we didn't even get changed. We walked down and first, i didn't bring water shoes for my toddler. Second, there were more rocks for her to play with than sand. Not exactly safe, trip hazard and NOT kid friendly. Very small area to swim and it's just not kept well. For charging for absolutely nothing there should be a beach clean up here. I mean the beach part is literally no more than 50 feet wide, shouldn't take long. This was the worst stop of our entire trip here and my daughter was looking forward to finding a real "lake beach" disgusting, take that money and clean this place up! You could do without the lifeguard pay, not like kids come here as it is. It was all adults. Won't...
Read moreIt was a great place to go and enjoy some time with family and friends. The only downside of it is the it is run by the state and as we know state employees normally dont pay to much attention to anything. To them it is a secure pay check till the close the park and send them home. Pro: good family environment, trash collection on point a lot of parking space, veteran discount for parking pass and you pay for the car not the people inside. Con: facility and common areas let go, 3 out 4 sinks broken, 1 out 2 toilets broken, seen like no one cares about it. Security and personal are gone after 6:30, rest room close after 6:30 but they have a private company that they pay for to give you the service ( portable toilets), the area that take you to the water full of weeds...
