SummerWind Vineyard, nestled just minutes from downtown Smithfield is a "must see" destination worth your time. Whether on a day trip to our lovely little town or an afternoon for those seeking a relaxing and enjoyable outing. They can offer a casual afternoon tasting, inside or out, a romantic date night, or a fun day out with friends and family (including the dog!). SummerWind Vineyard is our go-to!! They gladly take reservations if you're bringing a larger group (ask me how I know?!?😉) and having attended several events there from Easter egg hunts to Friday night music to Thursday Bingo, Wine Talks with Kim, birthdays, retirements, and even including the owners family's wedding I can attest to the location, seating, tables and Pagan River being the most beautiful spot and perfect backdrop for those photos!! We've done all the things!! Their food is always unique and amazing! They have mastered the art of the "shark-cootchie" board that not only taste amazing with combos I would never have imagined, but they look amazing as well!! They compliment their wine perfectly and change seasonally to suit. They also have sandwiches and flatbreads if you're looking for something else. There's always something new and interesting and I never leave their hungry!! Most importantly.... the wine. I'm a red girl preferably, so I LOVE their reds, the Petit Verdot is my Go-To! Did I mention they're have are award winning?!? Yep, award-winning! The 2019 Petit Manseng is magnificent!! You will not be disappointed!! I make sure to try any new ones and get a refresh every now and then just to make sure I'm still a "red girl". It's been questionable a time or two!! Highly recommend their flights! Try it all!! Find your sweet spot!! Lastly, their staff is made up of family and friends and they are always welcoming and eager to talk about wine, help find what suits your taste and ensure you enjoy your time out in the country! No wine snobs here!! If you've not been, don't pass up on the opportunity to experience the hospitality that they provide and relax with a good local glass...
Read moreBeautiful scenery, charcuterie boards were plated very well and sangria of the day was amazing. Music was playing as we sat and enjoyed one another's company. However, I will not be returning to experience such a distasteful hosting experience. What was planned to be a day of reflection and relaxation resulted in my first experience of micro aggression. It was apparent we were being watched and minimally serviced the entire time. We were excited to explore the property and was accused of attempting to leave with a glass. The tone and affect of one of the individuals we inquired about sweet wine recommendations was very flat and unwelcoming as well as the defensive body language presentation. We were also assumed to be with another group of women of color as when one of us attempted to pay a gratuity charged was explained to us due to being a party size of 8 (in which we were not). Not only did we not know the additional party of women of color, but we were seated no where near them. We were not a local group and traveled to enjoy each other in a welcoming environment and unfortunately did not get...
Read moreAwesome winery! They have dining available indoors and out! You are able to make reservations for larger parties if needed. We enjoyed two flights of wine and definitely had our favorites, but all of the wine was good. Enjoyed the outdoor patio with good music playing at an appropriate level where you could easily maintain conversation. They had a couple sets of corn hole boards and a nice fire pit area. We ordered the hummus and the prosciutto flatbread with both having a beautiful presentation, fresh ingredients, and fabulous taste! There is a waterfront view and small section of pier you can walk out on for a better view of creek and Smithfield station out in the distance. Huge grass area for picnics and dogs to play! Very dog friendly! You can see the grape vines and beautiful grapes growing as you drive up to the winery, which I...
