This Welcome Center is located along Interstate 85 southbound shortly after entering into South Carolina from North Carolina. There are signs noting this welcome center a few miles before getting here.
We stopped in here for just a few minutes on the way to the hotel we were staying for the night down in Greenville, SC before heading to Mississippi the following day. We've traveled this route many times before, so the primary reason for the stop was to use the restroom and stretch the legs out before going to our destination for the day.
Along my travels, this was not one of the better restroom stops. The restrooms were a bit messy and they seemed to be running low on supplies in there as well. I'm sure that may not be the normal, but it was the situation for my visit.
We made a quick stop to the welcome center part of the building which is right around the corner from the restrooms. We took a quick look around at the brochures and other things that might be available in South Carolina and also signed in on their electronic visitor log.
Overall, this was an okay welcome center. It's not as elaborate or good as some other state welcome centers, but it does get the job done in the end. If you need to stop and stretch your legs or use the restroom, this is a spot that you could stop in and do so. It would be a while before you get to another rest area along Interstate 85 south (mile marker 24 in...
Read moreSouth Carolina is a incredible , beautiful , fun state . I've traveled all around over the years and almost always stopped at the welcome center's. There is one issue id like to bring up after this last trip back from georgia though . For miles and miles leaving georgia and entering South Carolina , I've never seen so many road kill deer , it's insane. There was even a large center concrete wall than ran for miles that was nothing but dead fawns . I'm guessing the adult deer can jump it but not there young . There must be something that can be done . Fences , lights , horns , green way over passes or tunnels , somethen . It would be a great thing to help the wildlife and make things safer for travelers . I'm not saying everywhere it would be necessary but there's definetly areas where its realy bad . Love ya South Carolina but somebodies gotta speak for the...
Read moreI walked in to get some information in general about the state. I was questioned like I was in a high end boutique about to steal something by the woman with the heavy Russian/Ukranian foreign sounding accent. She made me feel uncomfortable and like she was pushing a product sale on me!! It's a Welcome center and I wasn't comfortable with her lack of knowledge of Southern Hospitality and basic communication when speaking with a stranger. This doesn't leave a good first impression for the state of SC in my humble opinion. I just wanted to look in peace. The other older woman was very nice, chatted with me with ease and it wasn't awkward. I'm NC born and raised for 50 years so I know what Southern Hospitality is. Thank you for taking time to...
