Too much to tell here. We stayed in the lighthouse keepers house and had a great time. The house was comfortable and tastefully appointed with two full kitchens, six comfortable bedrooms and six spotless bathrooms. The AC is museum quality so the house was always comfortable regardless of record high temperatures outside. The house can be partitioned into two separate apartments.
You can enter the lighthouse but you can climb to the top. Even still got get a feel for the high quality of its construction. There is an interpreters station staged with a docent who explains the history and function of the lighthouse.
One of the best activities during your stay is the private beach. You can't swim there because of rip tides, but you can spend your entire stay there just looking through the abundant fossils to be found on the beach.
While there, don't forget to visit the Calvert Marine Museum, which operates the facility.

Read moreI had the opportunity to be a part of a Gaelic Immersion weekend through Sgoil Gaidhlig Bhaile an Taigh Mhoir. We stayed on the property last weekend. It was so beautiful, cozy, and clean. Everyone we talked with or worked with regarding staying there from Veronica (coordinator) to Kevin (the docent) was amazing. We had everything we needed and more. They were so accommodating for our larger group and I'm so thankful for their generosity. I would recommend anyone to check in to renting the property, or simply taking a visit and learning about Cove Point's rich history. It's great for families, couples, or just a weekend visit. We saw tons of sea life and got to stroll on the beach as well. Thank you for allowing us to stay with you and we will be...
Read moreThe facility had a very nice volunteer and groundskeeping staff, but the actual site was a big disappointment. The grounds are very small, and are fenced with a high chain link fence, making it feel more like a prison yard than a trip to the shore. The beach is right on the other side, but the gate is padlocked. I understand if you they don’t want to allow swimming, but a walk out to the beach would have been nice. You can’t climb the lighthouse but you can look up the steps. We were told the kids could ring the Bell but the rope was disconnected. The short film in the visitors center did give a great overview of the...
