Fontanella Family Winery — Attraction in Sonoma

Small, intimate wine tasting in a beautiful setting. Our hostess Paige was wonderful, warm and personable, greeting us as we approached the tasting room with two glasses of Chardonnay. A little cheese and crackers with the tasting was a nice touch. While all their wines were good, we enjoyed their Zinfandel the best. We will definitely return.

My wife and I had had enough of the lock down/working from home and needed to escape. I can't think of a better way than spending a weekend in Napa Valley and especially a visit to Fontanella Family Winery. Still the most personable visit of any winery that we've visited. Jennifer, as always, was amazing, knowing what we like and dislike. It was like visiting with family and two hours flew by before we knew it. My fiancée and I had a great, personalized experience at Fontanella! Called and booked day of! Our tour was at 3:30 on a weekday during not peak season, so being the only people there, Ryan sat with us and his breadth of knowledge was at our disposal. He was personable and gave us a glimpse of his extensive knowledge on the growing process and wine-making process, along with the history of the Fontanella Family Winery. He made us feel comfortable to ask any questions on the owners, property, or the incredible selections of Cabernet Sauvignon we got to taste! Karen, one of the owners, even welcome us and sat down just to chat and ask how our trip has been and to learn about us. Ryan then took us into the barrel room, where we got to have a taste directly from the barrel. The small cheese plate/nuts/crackers were great, along with the many hummingbirds we got to see! The Fontanellas just planted their vineyard at this location, so there are rows of tiny vines with the white plastic still on. I told this to some clients I brought last weekend but the first comment was "Oh. I am a bit dissappointed, I wanted to see vineyards and flowers..." I convinced her that their wine and the tasting experience was going to change her mind and it did! Outstanding 90+ rated wines, awesome tour/tasting and, at only $25 (includes 3 barrel tastings, super interesting experience), that is more than reasonable for Napa. My only thing is PUT SOME FLOWERS ON THE PATIO PLEASE!!! - it could use a little color, otherwise beautiful and peaceful. Stacy is great and so fun and Karen Fontanella is awesome.
