This information center is on your right after you enter the Yosemite N.P. using CA Hwy 120 going east. The park rangers are helpful. A park maps are available. The restrooms are also available. Cell phone reception is very weak in the area. Only Verizon is somewhat working. If you have a problem with your car or any other emergencies and have a cellphone provider such as AT&T or T -Mobile, it will be a hard task to get any help. There is no payphone booths in the area. However, in the Yosemite Valley Lodge there are a few. For rangers, it should be a number one task to install at least one payphone booth in this area before the summer season has started. Finally, the reservations are needed to...

Carry tires chains while snowing, they check you at the information station! Great place for a restroom break after a long drive. There is also a water faucet outside which I've used to fill up a plastic jug for hand washing water. Also note that if you are coming here during winter while it's snowing, they are very strict about carrying tire chains. It doesn't matter if you have AWD and snow tires. The national park police will check to make sure you're carrying. Don't ask me how I know. They won't let you lie through. 😂 If you're really curious, the police asks to see the tire chains you're carrying. Buy tire chains before your trip if you don't want to get ripped off by the guy selling it at...

The information center is great..But my overall experience in the park itself is Ehhhhhh. Obviously missing a lot bc certain areas were closed due to the Mariposa fire...I got a reservation for my Dad for Father's Day..We contemplated on going bc of the nearby fire. But went bc he just turned 78 and his health problems are continuing. The smoke was there but not disconcerning. We saw what we could, but I couldn't believe the number campers inside. It seemed very crowded. Tried to go inside the Camp Curry store but no parking at all as it was also crowded..Maybe another time will be better bc who doesn't love this beautiful area? It just wasn't the right time to go..Thinking of those effected...

Always look forward to this stop as it marks our seasonal entry into the unique and phenomenal Yosemite. Really different this year as you have to have a reservation(thru 8/31) for entry BEFORE you get to the gate. Saw people with out reservations being turned away(see recreation.gov to get reservations). I have, in general, found the rangers very attentive and wanting to help. Plus there are always signs that provide insights into the current situation, nature, history, etc.
