We come here every once in a while during the winter months to do some hiking in the trail near the parking lot. The trail itself is quite nice, fairly level and simple hike with good views. Generally is pretty empty, apart from an occasional snowmobile or cross country skier. The sno-park itself is pretty bare bones. Not a whole lot of slopes for kids to slide down, but enough to at least play around in. The two bigger snow parks a few miles further down the road are a better bet. The parking lot isn't big (at most can handle 15-20 cars), and requires a permit to avoid a ticket - the permit can be bought online in advance, or on premises via a QR code. However, if not printing out the pass, you will need a ranger to come provide you a receipt to put on your dash. A day pass is $15, and also covers the other two snow parks down the road.

12.29.20. Decent amount of snow at Spicer Snow-Park. We bought the Snow-Pass at Ebbetts Pass Sporting Goods for only $5. Stop by there for the pass before heading up. Spicer is the first Snow-Park you will encounter as you drive up Arnold. Parking is very limited and gets packed fairly quickly. Once the parking lot is full, vehicles will start parking along the road that leads out to the main road. This then sometimes makes it difficult for cars leaving and entering. There were lots of people on the main side of Spicer[parking lot], so we stayed of the opposite side where there wasn't as many people.

Came here on Sunday March 10 around 11am. Happy to find there was plenty of parking and lots of soft snow on a sunny day. This was *perfect* for our 5 and 8-year-old boys. Plenty of family friendly hills to choose from with varying thrill levels. And it never got too crowded. Make sure you buy and print out your $15 parking because Wi-Fi is spotty here. Park rangers do check at the entrance. Spicer is a great value compared to the big resorts that charge big $$$ for you to use only their sleds/tubes while fighting crowds and getting only 2 hours of total sled time. We will be back.

Such a good little open space for snow play, also probably one of the closest snow places if you live in the San Francisco Bay Area.Want to sled?well there are pre-made slopes centered for children, but its still fun to sled on,you can stomp into the wilderness in the beautiful forests nearby, where you will likely find fresh, fluffier snow,as not many go there. One thing,be careful as there are giant rocks which have crevices that you can slip into if the snow breaks away easily, but hopefully you don’t walk out of the pathway like I did!Oh and get a snow park permit, its 5 dollars, and you could get cited or get a huge fine if you don’t get it nearby in one of the permit...

This place is not that great. There are way better areas. This sno-park is mostly flat and requires some trekking through trees to even find somewhat of a hill to do any sledding. The snow is also super packed and more like ice in the main area. Very slippery with no hills to actually sled. Also, if you do plan on going, arrive early because parking is a mess and you will have to line up in vehicles and wait for people to leave as the ranger lets you in. Last but not least, don’t forget to buy a sno-park pass prior to visiting because once you’re up there, service is limited. You need to be able to show that pass for parking access. Purchase in the city prior...
