The Blue Heron at Blackthorn — Attraction in South Bend

Lexi is amazing. She is incredibly organized and on the ball, isn’t trying to upsell you. We rented the Blue Heron for the following reasons: 1-the food was the best we tried in the local area. 2-the cost was the lowest of all venues and included rentals (we did a few upgrades-they work with Burns so no need for another contract, we even had requests for a certain outdoor seating that Burns didn’t have. Lexi worked with other local vendors to source them). 3-the location is stunning, particularly the outdoor space (plenty of room for lawn games and guests to roam). 4-they have a huge parking lot. Compared with downtown locations this allowed for guests to not have to worry about street or other limited parking. 4-Lexi! Our friends recommended working with Lexi for her expertise. Overall great experience. A few things to note: Food allergies were tricky to accommodate day-of (remember to ask guests about this in the RSVP!) and make sure that you know what needs to be returned to vendors (like flower vases), as Lexi’s crew will clean up and pack everything up for you so you don’t have to worry about that. There aren't enough words to describe how grateful we are to Lexi and her staff at the Blue Heron. We planned our wedding in 2 months and we never felt one ounce of stress because Lexi had it all under control. She guided us to exactly what we were looking for and allowed us to do what we wanted. Lexi played a huge role in making our day so perfect. Even a few days after, I had to pick up a few things, the staff was so helpful and truly went above and beyond to help me out. We couldn't imagine our wedding anywhere else. All of our guests talked about how beautiful the venue was and how much they loved the food. We had our reception at the Blue Heron on 8.6.22! It was a true fairy tale! I cannot wait to show more photos of the day and all the details! We had 240 people with plenty of space for dancing! Lexi is an absolute dream to work with and walked us through every step! Detailed timelines, food tasting, set up for the day- and was always super responsive to all my questions! She truly loves her job and all the couples she works with, it shows! The service was amazing and my guests are raving over the food!
