Wheeler Nature Park — Attraction in South Burlington

The children's nature park area here is magical for little kids, and it one of our favorite places to go as a family! There are a variety of play areas made with different natural materials like stones and logs. There is a tea party area surrounded by wildflowers, a homestead-style area with a play fire pit and teepee, a sandbox full with dinosaurs, a gazebo that feels like a tree house, and more. We have a community garden plot here, so I"'ve had ample opportunity for exploring the trails. There are a couple intersecting loops that let you choose your own way through the park. As previously mentioned by other reviews, one of the loops can be rather wet (it leads into a semi-wetland, after all), but the other is typically dry. The trails are fairly easy and good for families; I walked them while rehabbing my knee. Some good views of the Mansfield and Camel's Hump, and otherwise quality time spent...

Nice small hidden trail right next to a nice dog park and just across Veterans Memorial Park. Plenty of parking, dog friendly (must be on the leash). Nice easy walk with a great view of mount Mansfield. Great way to get a break from the city and reconnect with nature. Wear appropriate hiking shoes as it gets pretty muddy...
