If I were only rating the wine, I would give 5 stars. My favorite wines we're the Coffee Delight and the Caramel Delight dessert wines. These are over the top fantastic! The Green Apple wine and the Raspberry wines we're also very good! These will be worth additional trips to buy more. Now, in regards to the overall experience of the Winery, this I give a generous 3 star rating. The winery is located off a country road next to what I'm guessing is their home. There wasn't much area for parking and a good portion of the gravel parking area was a water mud hole. We avoided this and parked on the grass, which was also not as much grass as mud. Bottom line, work is needed on the parking situation and you may need a car wash following the visit. Traveling to different wineries and vineyards in North and South Carolina is our thing, we love it, so that's why we visited City Scapes Winery. The indoor tasting is in a tiny building not much bigger than my living room and dining room. For sure, they have maximized what you can do with such a small space. They asked if we had reservations. We didn't. The couple behind us did, so they sat them then they were still able to seat us. That was a first. I thought it was a bit impressive that they actually need to take reservations for wine tasting. I think there were 6 or 7 tables squeezed in there. We sat at a table with stools. That wouldn't be that bad except it took about 1 and one-half hours to do an 8 wine tasting. Stools are hard on the back after a while. They did have some chairs with backs, but they were taken and we actually didn't realize it would take that long. They were packed so that is probably one reason why it took so long. Regardless, I would ditch the stools and at least buy chairs with a back for all tables. Because it was packed, it was really loud and stuffy inside. Outside, the temperature was in the high 40's. They do have a patio outside with not much of a view. The fire pit was lit, but for all the seating, it doesn't provide much heat. It would be worth the investment to have several patio heaters going. They had one tall patio heater, but it wasn't working. Considering how good their wine is, I can see this place growing and fixing all these issues over time. I would think during warmer weather, the outside tasting experience would be much better than inside. Just be sure to go when it has been dry, otherwise you may get muddy. Oh, and you might want to consider making a...
Read moreThe first time I went to cityscape was before they built their brand new facility. I had a fabulous experience then with a group of my friends everyone was super nice and attentive. I recently went with a couple of friends on a Sunday to check out their new facility, beautiful facility but extremely overcrowded people everywhere. There was literally nowhere to sit and there didn't seem to be enough staff for the amount of people that were there. One experience that really turned me off to visiting again was when my friends and I approached the main counter towards the entrance to purchase a bottle of wine so we could enjoy it while we were there. We had just watched the girl working at the counter uncork a bottle for a couple then she walks over to us to see how she can help us. We tell her we essentially want to do the same thing, purchase a bottle and enjoy it while we're there, she then proceeds to look at us and tell us she can't help us and we'd have to go to the bar to do that. I just looked at her confused and said okay. So we turn around and walk over to the bar which is extremely crowded, only one bartender, so needless to say we sit there for at least 10 to 15 minutes waiting for even a glance from the bartender. As we're standing there waiting I happen to look back over my shoulder and saw the girl that just turned us away, opening a bottle for another couple that had purchased there. At that point I decided that she just didn't want to serve us because she just didn't want to, what other reason would there be? So finally we got the attention of the bartender, I can't blame her because the bar was extremely crowded and she was the only one working. We got our bottle, after we enjoyed our wine we left and to be honest probably won't return after that experience it just seems like ever since they got their new facility they're a little snootier and I'm not about that. Kind of a disappointment because I do enjoy their...
Read moreFor Valentines Day, my man had an entire day of surprises, and our first stop was City Scape Winery. We traveled about 2 hours to get there, and walking in was so cozy and inviting. Brittany greeted us as soon as we walked in and asked if we had reservations, which we did not and she informed us they were booked for seating, but we could sit at the bar inside or outside. We decided to take a seat at the bar. Although it was not on the menu, we asked if they did flights of wine. She informed us they did, and the little wine glasses from the flight were complementary to keep. I was excited. We picked 4 out, which we wrote on a little slip. Caleb was the one to pour our flight and was a delight He asked us if we needed anything else and gave us a little box to walk our flight glasses as we decided to go outside and enjoy the cool, beautiful sunny weather and scenery. Once we finished our flight we decided to go back to the bar and were greeted by Kara, we bought 2 full glasses of wine. As we finished up, we enjoyed 3 particular wines so much we bought bottles and 2 aerator toppers. The entire atmosphere was beautiful and the establishment was very clean. There were plenty of places to sit as we sipped. The employees were all very nice, welcoming, and attentive to any of our needs. Even though we were traveling through, we will most likely go back again. It's definitely a great first impression on us and a shout out to Brittany, Caleb, and Kara for taking such great care for us during our...
