The Jerry Blackwell Sports Complex at Gahagan Park hits the sweet spot between functionality and friendly atmosphere. The fields are impressively well-maintained—lush, level, and ready for everything from casual weekend games to serious competition. Whether you’re there to play, coach, or cheer from the sidelines, the facilities set the stage for a great day.

Parking? No stress. There’s plenty of it, and it’s conveniently located, making arrivals and departures smooth even during busy tournament weekends.

What truly sets this complex apart, though, is its staff. Welcoming and helpful, they create an environment that feels more like a local gathering than a public facility. Need directions, field details, or just a quick conversation? You’ll find kindness at every turn.

In all, Jerry Blackwell Sports Complex offers the kind of experience that keeps athletes and families coming back—clean grounds, easy access, and a community spirit that makes every...

Good park, lots of area for kids to run around. The park structure reminds me of a castle. Lots of swings and activities for children. A few negatives; one is right in the front, a bridge made of rubber-like material that gets super slippery if it has rained recently. It stays wet and I watched multiple children slip, fall and bang their heads on the wood holding the material, my child included. The other con is the castle has really bad lines of sight. It's very easy to lose sight of your children, creating panic mode to locate your child. The floor is made of dirt instead of grass so your shoes dirty and if it has rained recently, the ground turns muddy. But overall, a unique and...

Very nice park and area. Have been bringing our kids since we moved to Charleston for the past 5 years…. Buttttt for the people here, we haven’t had great experiences the last 2 visits. This past summer I had a racist incident. Today, we went back since summer and another racist incident happened today. As a BLACK parent in the community, WE WILL NOT BE BACK TO THIS PARK! Parents have pulled their kids away from my kid not wanting to pay with or in the same area as my 3 year old. We teach our children to be kind to ALL! Overall we have not met much friendly ppl here. Not ALL people but enough to not feel welcomed. We will continue to drive all the way downtown to enjoy the...

It's a nice park in a neighborhood. Very quiet very relaxing. You would hear frogs Birds you can feel the nature. There's a very large soccer field two different baseball fields a pretty large play house for the kids made out of wood a lot of stuff for kids to enjoy. The walking trails a little scattered if you decide to walk around the baseball fields to the back of the park you'll find another Trail real nice wooden bridge there's a lot you can add to your Trail but there's not a specific nature trail at this park but it's still great place to bring the family have some fun outside for some soccer maybe some baseball

Gahagan Park is a parenting lifesaver. The massive wooden playground looks like someone gave a bunch of kids a hammer and said, “Build your dream fort,” and honestly? They nailed it. It’s clean, safe, and 100% capable of draining energy out of even the most hyper. Then you've got sports fields as far as the eye can see—baseball, soccer, football—basically a mini Olympics every weekend. One second you're cheering your kid on, the next you're bribing them with snacks to leave.
