I was excited to experience this beautiful plantation but that was not the case. We drove 40 min not knowing it was closed...in the pouring rain, we drive to the plantation only to realize itās closed. We saw a sign that says no trespassing, but we couldnāt turn around because the mud was so thick...we had to turn around at a safer point to not get stuck. (Cheap rental car) We did a u turn when it was not so muddy, only to get cut off and taunted by a man in a truck on the grounds saying we were trespassing and that we must like to trespass and āthey are very private peopleā when the fact is we Were in a rental car on muddy roads and had to choose very carefully to make a u turn knowing we were not going to get stuck. Unless you are knowing that this plantation is open on a certain sat. Donāt go...it was very intimidating to say the least and I left thinking I wanted to go home. Very bad experience for us on our first day in the South. Good intentions for us...but the man we could not convince...beyond rude.. and would not accept our apology without saying we we just like to trespass. as pretty as the house may look on the website I will never go back nor will I ever recommend it. The hospitality to this place is not...

Amidst a veritable maze of confusing roads and signage we were grilled by a rather condescending man through our truck window about our intentions there and the fact that they āare very private down hereā as if we were up to no good. He then proceeded to talk to us as if we were kids and suggested us returning the first Saturday of the month to take a tour, before escorting our truck to the end of the drive. No sir, I do not believe I will take the time to drive all the way back to be anywhere near the...
