I am upset at this location my friend was anxious to go even though it was last minute. She was over the fence about going because she didn't know it was an hour and half away.I replied, "let's go you've been talking about this "estatically"for over a week and a half. When she arrived, she instantly was happy even though she made it 30 minutes before closing. Then this is were the problems arrived. We made it in enough time for the tour guide to give us their last tour at 5pm.However,we were told that we would have to wait till 7 pm or after for the tour because of festivities. I thought, 3hours is a long time but we drove a long way and it will make my friend happy to see the tour . While waiting, we realized that the owner could of gave us a tour because its been a hour and a half 6pm and no festivities have begun . So we couldn't take it no more my friend didn't want to drive back sleepy so she wanted her 50$ back that she paid for the event. The girl (rep for the location)was very dismissive and ve non emphatic to the fact that we wanted a refund because no one cared to attend to us as customers looking for a tour. So the girl came back to us and said, "we can't give you you're money back you been here so many hours ".I looked at her like come on maam we agreed to wait but the tour guide is taking her time and nothing is going on here were just standing here for hours .We should at least get something back. She then told my friend to "stand outside of the property we'll give you half back " Not professional " whose the victim here ? here we are as customers who have been waiting for almost 2 hours doing nothing".So, Ultimately she was given half back when it really should of been 30$ for wasting our time when my friend genuinely wanted to support this location. The owners tried to take our money when they knew they were wrong which is not ok but long story short. I would not recommend this location which is sad. I don’t think there business practices is their ancestors way or what...

As a private and public tour operator in Savannah, GA, when I'm planning full day Excursions for my clients who want to explore nearby Beaufort & Hampton Counties in dynamic ways, this is easily one of my first go-to, "hidden gems," on the hit list. While not without controversy, and therein lies some of its integral appeal, it's a truly a place of wonder and curiosity as much as it is educational and entertaining. If at all possible, request a marvelous young woman, Ifa Funke, to act as your host or guide. She's the heart & soul of this place if just a beacon for what it could be and was probably hoped for by some of the Founders. An ounce of her sprinkled on your day will carry you for many days really and delight to come back just to have her as my host! There are truly engraciating and inviting folks here. My hope for this site is that more will come to work with them, for them and do more for the facilities in place as you can see there have been lean and waning years too. It's not neglect as much as it's like all of us in life with upps and downs. It takes a toll. But you can feel that it's not a lost cause because it has such heart and through souls like Ifa Funke, you feel it beating through you with it's heartbeat along with wink, smile, nod, handshake, embrace and more signs of life and promise of great...

Being an Africana Studies major, our tour of the Oyotunji Africian Village to me, was very inspiring and educational. It was $20.00 per person and because our tour guide Oyeyemi, was a great historian, very knowledgeable and entertaining, the tour lasted about an hour and a half including questions. This weekend they were celebrating King Feast. Due to our time restriction we couldn't stay and partake in the festivities. However Oyeyemi did extend the invitation for us to stay. He also welcomed us to take as many pictures and videos as we wanted. It was a very good thing we had a back up battery. In 2 years the Oyotunji African Village will be recongnized as a National Historic Landmark. I would advise everyone to take the tour. When visiting, due to the mosquitos and low country sand gnats, you may want to take some Backwoods off spray and/or wear long sleeve shirts and pants along with some...

We found this location on Google while traveling through the area. Noticed they were open so we were excited to visit. However it was not a welcoming environment! I was with 2 senior citizens who quickly became nervous because of the behavior of one of the women who approached us by vehicle stating that the area was private property. And she attempted to block us from making a Uturn. Thankfully we were able to get the attention of a man on the other side who advised her to let us out so we were able to leave with no other issues. So my advice is BE WARE!!! All Google listed tourist attractions are not always open to the public!

The tour was excellent. The guide very informative and passionate. I would have liked to been given more information like how to volunteer, and how much the readings are and more information about the Ifa journey in general. The Sango Parade was very authentic. I really felt like I was on the motherland. All in all it was very enjoyable experience. I hope to return soon.
