I had visited a couple of times during their closed hours by accident; stuff going on with our vehicle, or just needing to stretch our legs. They have all these cool signs telling about whales and native plants. Yesterday, I got to go in with the kids. The workers went above and beyond to teach the kids about the local ecosystem and it's many inhabitants, and were able to switch gears and speak to us 'adults' to make everything as engaging as it was for the kids. This place is an absolute treasure for all ages. 10/10...
Read moreWe couldn't believe this place is free to enter. We had a personal tour and then walked around on our own for awhile. We saw a huge turtle chasing a school of fish on the dock, held a baby horseshoe crab, touched a puffer, saw megalodon teeth (which can be found locally), learned about Snowball, the fauna of the area, as well as the child laborers who shucked oysters long ago. So much to see and learn here. We left a donation and dd received a cool sticker! We will definitely come back for...

I recently attended one of their Tuesday Talks at The Port Royal Sound Foundation Maritime Center which was given by The Center for Birds of Prey located near Charleston. It was very informative and the speaker brought 3 wild birds. I love these classes as it really helps people understand how delicate our environment is and to have info on how to help.
