I debated between 4 and 5 stars and would ultimately love to give Rosebrock Park 4.5 stars. The park is well-maintained, family-friendly, and offers great amenities, but the noticeable road noise from Bacon’s Bridge Road slightly detracts from the overall experience, so I’ll stick with 4 stars.
I visited the park for a solo hike and covered 2.25 miles. The trails are well-marked and nicely cleared, making them easy to navigate. The informational kiosks along the trails add an educational element, and to get the full experience, I recommend exploring the green loop as well as the yellow and red loops. Be prepared for plenty of roots along the trail, which is typical for the Lowcountry.
The park also has two very nice covered picnic areas, a well-maintained playground that’s perfect for kids, and clean bathroom facilities—all of which make it a fantastic spot for families to spend a day outdoors.
Overall, Rosebrock Park is a wonderful destination for families and nature lovers alike. With its combination of hiking, learning opportunities, and excellent amenities, it’s a great...
Read moreThis used to be a nice trail I would have given 3 stars for being a nearby place to enjoy some nature. Sometime more recently they started spray painting all of the roots. I'm guessing some city official's child or elderly parent tripped on a root or something and don't see much of any other reason to warrant this. People go here to enjoy nature, if I wanted to see a bunch of ugly spray paint I would check out North Charleston, a construction site, or wait by railroad tracks for a train to pass. This trail borders creeks/rivers and all of those chemicals wash right off to pollute our waterways. This is kept up regularly and is a waste of taxpayer dollars. My dog and I didn't appreciate orange spray paint on our feet one day we were there right as a city employee was painting. The woods has trees, trees have roots, if someone is incapable of handling that stick to sidewalks and don't ruin the beauty for the majority of people who are...
Read moreSuch a gem! We live close by so we have visited this park since it was first created several years ago. It was originally laid out by the Ashley River High School cross country if I remember correctly, and was pretty basic. The trail used to be narrow and uneven and very muddy even when there wasn't much rain. Over the years, Dorchester County Parks Department has come in and improved the trail with boardwalks and bridges in the wettest areas and has added loops and side trails. They have also placed signs with truly interesting information about the wildlife, environment and history of the park. An Eagle Scout has placed benches strategically along the route. The trail is just about a mile long and is easy (but keep an eye out for roots). There are a playground and restrooms in the parking area. The only negative is the sound of traffic on Bacon's...
