First off, a little biased since I didn't catch anything. So probably sour on that for the hour we spent here. We shore fished which is the reason for the 3 as it's not very beneficial for this type of fishing here unless you're bobber fishing and the spots for that are limited if you're not there early. As other reviews noted, this is a fantastic place to fish if you're in a kayak or canoe and have an awesome landing to get into the water, best I've seen in a long time. If you're fishing from a kayak or canoe you can get to all the good areas. Shore fishing, your launch points to cast are limited due to trees and weeds where the fish are hiding in the summer months. On a boat you can get out there and have a lot better angles to reach the fish. A little loud due to the road but good vegetation and brush for the fish at this location from a boat. Small walk area for those with dogs and people I talked to liked the little park. Again, just hard to shore fish from...
Read moreIt's been six yrs since Tygerberry Landing opened on Berry's Pond with handicap accessibility for kayaks/boats, but no motorized boats. And it's been very popular for fishing especially. Plus, the short walking trail w/ pond side benches, and a few picnic tables are nice. Open daily from sunrise to sunset. Great place to enjoy nature! Was recently closed for maintenance, which it needed badly just to clean up all the trash people leave behind here. If you can't pick up & clean up after yourself DON'T come to our pond! Leave only your footprints behind NOT your trash!! Also, if you visit, beware of the large/deep pothole that's always at the entrance where the asphalt & gravel meet. We don't visit the landing anymore b/c of this as our car hits the ground while trying to enter/exit to/from the VERY busy Berry Shoals Rd. They really should pave the whole parking lot so it's safer & easier to enter & exit...
Read moreI have been here several times to kayak. The handicap ramp and launch make for an easy in-and-out experience. Berry Shoals Pond is more like a small lake to me, and it's large enough to get in a great workout in the kayak. I also go up the South Tyger River as far as I can while there. In fact, I'd rather go up the river because of the challenge. It's a good workout against the current, but not so bad it can't be done. Only one time have I been unable to paddle upriver because of recent rains. And of course, the reward for that workout is a casual float back down with the current, or a continued workout if you like. I've done both, and it's very enjoyable either way. It's beautiful and quiet, with lots of wildlife and nature to see...
