Out of state visitor, came for the Southern Hills Triathlon. Great venue, beautiful reservoir, super clean & raked sandy beach front, paved hike/run/bike trail. The trail is fully paved, so strollers and wheelchairs are possible (be aware, there are some steep sections). Only $8 per day to park. Camp sites available for tents & RVs. There are cabins & lodges to rent too. It's so clean and nice, you'd think you're at a tropical resort. Planning to return next year.

We were here on the 4th of July so it's packed with people. I've been to other lakes but this one is not my favorite...it was ok. Fee is $6 you pay at the entrance. Lots of beach area where you can set up your chairs, tables and tent. Lots of bugs in the area where we were at so bring bug spray. There are bike trails which I'd like to try if ever I come back here (not on a holiday where there are tons of people and it's hard to get a parking spot).

Angostura Reservoir is a water-lover's haven with breathtaking scenic views. Offering crystal clear waters, 36 miles of shoreline, and some of the finest sandy beaches in the state, the area hosts many water sports and summer fun activities, like camping, boating, fishing, and swimming. The fishing is well known for its walleye, smallmouth bass, crappie, and also supporting northern pike, largemouth bass, perch and bluegill.

Tent camping was miserable. We were at C-15, there was not a single shade tree in sight - It was SOO hot, I don't feel we could have survived if we didn't have air conditioning in our vehicle. This is not an exaggeration. Trying to pack up took making necessary rest periods in our vehicle every few minutes to get out of the direct sun. NOT recommended. In addition, Angostura contains fine silt from mining dumps and runoff to where the "beach" areas are like quicksand and nearly impossible to walk on without sinking ankle deep into black silt... also there are "biting" flies all along the shores of this reservoir. And they BITE!! My husband's ankles were covered in bites!! If you have a nice big RV and a speedboat you can use the boat ramps and enjoy the scenery at least. Either way though, there are elevated amounts of contaminents including harmful bacteria in the water so swim and fish at...

A campsite with place to park. About all I can say about it. The trails aren't nothing to write home to grandma about had some scenic overlooks of the reservoir which meh i guess if youre from an area neglected from water you might find this place more interesting. Had a nice view of the beginning of the Black Hills but that can only keep you so entertained. In the summer im sure its a little nicer with the beach and all.

Think about this way, coming here with the intention of a beautiful spot to camp and enjoy outdoors is like walking into McDonald's, ordering their spicey chicke nuggets and expecting them to taste like Wendys spicy nuggets. Its just not going to happpen but atleast you have food in your stomach. Just go find a...

The camp hosts and rangers are very rude and constantly nag and police you over every little thing. I have never had a bad experience at any other camp ground in South Dakota (and I’ve stayed at several) but this one takes the cake for sure! I wouldn’t recommend camping here, they are so strict, upright, and rude about every little thing it made the entire trip not fun. From parking to how many tents our family had, to where we placed the tents, to how big our fire was on the grill that was OVER the flipping fire pit for crying out loud! These people were as obnoxious and annoying as they come. Do yourself a favor and camp somewhere else where the rangers and came hosts don’t have micro...
