Springfield Recreation Area — Attraction in South Dakota

We have stayed here before and had relaxing time. This time, end date 8/23/20, was awful. Not due to the park, but to other campers! Loud music and yelling until 11 the first night until host showed up. 2nd night worse, music and loudness went on till after 12:30, hotter than Hades all day, but could hear over a.c. running. Really disgusted for a park that is to be quiet at 10pm. Being " nessessary" workers, we were looking forward to peace and quiet after dealing with complaints, hassles, and people having difficulty with COVID 19. I came to visit because I was camping on the opposite side of the Missouri and I had started the Peaks to Plains Passport challenge for South Dakota. No sooner had I exited my car and checked in on the passport did the local police show up to eyeball me. I would not recommend staying at the Springfield State Recreation Area unless you have exhausted all of your other options. The mosquitoes are terrible, the shower house is subpar. The price quoted and the final charge ends up being $11 more by the time they add in all of the fees they don't tell you about. All of the other places in South Dakota were excellent. Stay clear...
