First time visiting and it was a good experience. Was the only visitor on a weekday morning. I walked the southern part of the island trail, including the boardwalk. Very peaceful, lots of birds even during a non-migratory period. Grass trails were well mowed. I did not climb the tower, though it was open - looked like one of those "easier to go up than down" with how steep the stairs are. 2 parts of the trails were accessible - short concrete path to a lookout from the office, and the board walk (made of some sort of likely recycled plastic material). Someone in a wheelchair could use, but both go through wooded areas and multiple sticks, acorns, etc were littered on both. Headquarters was open, and had some interpretive displays, and this site did have 3 passport stamps. All in all, worth a trip if you are in the area - I stopped as I was driving the Yellowstone Trail across South Dakota.

The trails where well trimmed as usual. We saw several deer , ducks and squirrels. The girls had a great time playing with cattails and finding evidence of fairies; ). It's a great place for dogs too as it's an island so they can run and play without getting to far

I went here on the weekend and the Vistor Center was closed. Due to the weather, I only hiked some of the shorter trails. I was on the search to find a Gray Partridge and left without seeing one. The bathrooms were open and that was a plus!

Love this place. Always go around early October and we have the place to ourselves. Very quiet, see some wildlife here and there. The paths are well-kept and easy to walk. Really fun nooks and photo ops. It's cool to see how the waterlines have changed. Worth a stop for a...
