I can not express enough how remarkable my experiences have been at Critter Country! Tucked away from the busy chaos on the highways, just a short distance beyond the Smithton exit, you will experience everything from dedicated wildlife preservation to the most genuine animal enthusiasts I’ve ever met. A small grass lot makes up the parking area (note that I said “dedicated wildlife preservation”) and the start of your adventure is introduced with a cozy gift shop. I was very kindly welcomed at the front desk by a woman named Jane. She was so polite in answering all of my questions about rules and prices. The prices to get in are far lower than they could be charging in my opinion! Over 100 different species of animals are clearly on display, some being able to feed and pet! The enclosures are extremely well maintained and all of the animals are visibly in great health! Each time I have visited, it takes about 2 hours to pass through seeing all the animals. The staff are pleasantly social and more than catering to any questions. I’m the type to ask a lot. I was fortunate enough to meet the owners. Both are vibrant personalities who genuinely care about your experience! My favorite part of everything there is the fact that there’s no doubt in my mind, these people own and operate this business with passion for wildlife and dedication to treat it well. There is a convenient portable John restroom just behind the gift shop. It was surprisingly clean and I was even more excited about the hand sanitizer! Overall, the only negative aspect that I can highlight is that they do eventually have a closing time and I can’t just...

Rob & Laurie are truly A M A Z I N G! my husband and I came from new york ran into a couple misshapes but we were supposed to end up at critter country! We were even a few minutes late and Laurie didn't hesitate to let us still see all their fur babies! So many cool animals, the white peacock followed me around for some snackies. I got to take selfies with the turkeys, donkeys, and a Hyland cow! (My favorite!) It was amazing. Definitely a hidden gem! If you're looking at reviews questioning whether to go or not (I do the same thing) Just GO you won't regret it!

We loved all the animals and interacting with them! Laurie was so sweet and let me feed the baby piglets their bottle. My husband had good conversations with Rob. They made us feel like we were family! We will be coming back to see you Rob & Laurie thank you for putting a smile on our faces! You guys are the best!!!! Next time we'll try not to be late 😉

I can't thank you...

We took our Autistic daughter and her Autistic fiancĂ© and their emotional support dog and a woman who I am assuming was the owner rudely asked if we had a dog in the stroller and we said yes she is our daughter’s support animal and she said “I DONT CARE WHAT SHE IS THAT DOG CAN NOT BE HERE, our daughter’s support animal tried to explain that she needs the dog and the woman snapped at our daughter and said “THAT DOG CANT BE HERE I DONT CARE WHAT TYPE OF DOG IT IS MY ANIMALS ARE NOT USE TO DOGS. I would not even give this place 1 star if you did not have to choose a star to leave a review. The woman was very rude and heartless and was mean to our kids who have disabilities. We got our money back and left! Our dog was in a stroller that is completely closed in and is a very well behaved dog because she is a support dog!! This place is not very professional!! The workers were very nice but the owner is...

Had a really nice time here, definitely worth a visit, petting zoo/farm environment so wear appropriate shoes and definitely buy extra carrots and feed when u pay for admission - this was a reasonably priced outing for the family even the 15yr old enjoyed it- ostriches, tigers, wolves, pigs, camels, lemurs, to name a few - well maintained animal enclosures and great staff super friendly and happy to answer questions.

I'm originally from SW PA but moved some years ago. I went home for a visit and took my 10 year old and his friend. We all loved it! There is a wide variety of animals (wild animals and farm animals!) and it was so much fun to feed them! We bought 3 bowls of carrots and 3 bowls of seeds and that carried us through for several hours. Staff was great and neighbor kids were there helping. We will definitely go back!
