Love me some nature! There are two trails that lead to the water from opposite sides of the reserve. Otter trail is shorter and has a few pond observatories. And the Osprey trail have several observatiries next to the reservoirs. We located several species of birds and ducks and watch Osprey feed their young. We tried desperately to locate snakes, turtles, and frogs, but no dice. They also have loads of benches for you to sit and enjoy the sounds and views, or have a sandwich if you've packed a picnic. The office staff person (I didn't ask his name and for that- I regret) was informative, showed my children the animal skulls and bugs and told them they could find the animals like them all around the trails. If youre looking for a brisk walk, the Otter trail is for you. If youre looking for a longer walk, the Osprey trail is your best bet. Enjoy the markers along the way too! Those are incredibly informative. Happy hiking! (Photos are from two separate days, bright blue sky is Otter trail in Spring, the rest are Osprey trail at the tail end of winter going into...

Loved the walk! We were able to identify several species of birds, plants, and trees. It was a great education opportunity for our troop. The otter point lookout was where we went, and unfortunately for the group of 6 year olds it has a nice safe, high railing. Only about 3 could get high up at a time. They loved using binoculars and the lookout telescopes to see the birds on Moonstone Beach. My personal favorite parts were the bathroom at the parking lot, neatly manicured path, the maps, educational placards, and at the head of the trail there is a whiteboard where you can write animal and bird sightings down. That...

This is one of my favorite walks in RI. The meadows are a great place to watch for birds and butterflies, and the "spaghetti trees" as my son calls them as you get closer to the water add a touch of fancy. There are some good, safe climbing trees for kids to play on with some thoughtfully placed benches so the parents can rest while the little monkeys swing. It needs a bit of a for testing clean up after the last storm with big winds we had, as a lot of branches are down. But still a gorgeous and easy...

I love this place for nice family walks. You can always catch sight of a deer, or other wildlife, and at the ends of the paths you get a great view of the ocean. It's a wide open, level path, so no trekking or complex hiking. It's just a nice, relaxing walk with the wildlife. This place is specifically for walking and seeing nature, so if you're bothered by cyclists or hunters, you don't have to worry about it here. If you look closely in the photos, you can see a friendly owl hanging out in the trees.

Such a pretty and unique setting. You’re not going to get a lot of miles but I promise you’ll see plenty of wildlife. Today’s sightings included deer, osprey, egret, fish, polliwogs and snakes (many little snakes sunning themselves). Many viewing platforms to sit and watch.
