Growing up I loved coming up and camping here. I'd wake up at first light and walk to the lake to fish. I always would catch something. I loved it and have many fond memories here as a child. Naturally I wanted to bring my own children here and have several times over the years. We usually go swimming if there's not too much thunderstorms. I hooked some very big fish in this lake most of the bigger ones got away. If you work your way around the lake you will definitely hook up some rainbow trout for dinner. Shore fishing is very good. There are multiple day use areas and several pullouts to park. There is a resort here that has food and some cabin rentals as well. This is probably one of my favorite lakes in the entire Sierra Nevada mountains.

Beautiful place for a hike. There is a trail that goes around the lake - about 4.5 - 5 miles and takes about 2 - 3 hours to complete. We stopped to take in the views, listen to the wind and streaming water. I would put the trail at medium, as there is some boulder climbing to get over the path, and part of the trail is not yet cleared from fallen trees and broken bridges due to snow fall. We went during early summer and there were still lots of flowers and water running in the streams. The trail was shaded most of the way by trees. There are many stopping places with fantastic views. Part of the trail is paved, but most of it is dirt path, pretty well marked. We also walked on part of the Jeep Trail but saw no vehicles.

One of our favorite things to do and places to go to get away!! The last time was busier than ever though unfortunately, so we may need to look elsewhere 'sigh'.... If you come here though, bring a boatload of mosquito repellent!!!! There's always a gazillion mosquitoes everywhere all day and night!!! The dogs 🐕 favorite part is camping and sleeping with his own sleeping bags lol

A small lake located right alongside HWY 4. The lake offers hiking, fishing, picnicing, BBQing, and boating. The lake is surrounded by several spacious campsites.

As its name implies, this lake sits nestled among the bosom of green pines and mountains.

The lake is very well forested and offers plenty of shade in the summer time. There are several small creeks that run right into the lake that offers neat areas to explore.

The spacing of the trees along the edge of the water also make for excellent hammock hanging areas as they are wide apart and generally offer great views...
