Easy, beautiful, pet friendly trail around Wrights Lake. Part of the trail snakes through rentable cabins, which is kind of weird since it feels like your intruding. The trail is mostly level and stays close to the water with lots of beach access if you want to take a dip. The lake is usually on the cool side but during summer it can get quite nice. Mosquito insanity during summer, don't forget you and your pets repellant!

Probably the prettiest site we've visited. My family will definitely be back. A doable hike to these lakes. Pack water, sunblock because at one point you will be exposed... Prepare for a moderate to hard hike especially if you're carrying a backpack cause it's a gradual climb up... But worth it! Hike back to the parking area is downhill and made it back fairly quick. Pack it in pack it out

This makes for a great starting point for many hikes up into Desolation Wilderness and the surrounding forest. The Trailhead itself opens late in the spring/summer season, but there is a parking lot and trails available just outside the seasonal gate closure. The trailhead is at the beautiful Wright’s Lake. There are some spectacular kayaking and SUP water ways around the lake as well.

Beautiful hike. The trail isn't super clear near the top, but when you hear water and see it tricking down, just follow the water up to the lake. We got a late start, which (normally) would have been perfect, as everyone else was coming back so we had the trail mostly to ourselves. Except that somehow we managed to lose the trail coming back and had to use a map to get back to the car and wade through tons of brush and climb over a lot of rocks. Made it back to the car just after sunset. Not ideal, but we made it just in time so overall it was a really good day. Next time we'll pay...
