Nice park with lots of space. They have a playground area for kids, a larger one for kids above 5, and a smaller one for kids under 5. They also include bathrooms, 3 baseball fields, 2 soccer fields, 2 brand new basketball courts, I think 2 pavilions, a racketball court, a disc golf course, a long walking path and a covered bridge.
The layout is a bit strange. There are at least three parking lots, the main entrance parking lot in the west side if the park is where the covered bridge is, there is one soccer field across the street from the parking lot and the playground, racketball court, bathrooms and pavilions are all right there. Then if you drive around the park there are two other parking lots to access the baseball fields and basketball courts. The walking path connects everything. Not entirely sure where the disc golf course starts.
Not only can you enjoy the park amenities, but there were a lot of people fishing in the Jordan creek that runs through the park. And there is another covered bridge on the east side of the park not along the park itself but the road that runs just east crosses it, so that makes two you can...
Read moreCovered Bridge Park is my favorite park in Allentown to walk my dog. With the recent extensions to the walkway, it just keeps getting better. Most of the footpath is paved, however a small portion is wooden. There are two covered wooden bridges over Jordan Creek and one wooden bridge along the footpath. The sports areas are well maintained (baseball, basketball soccer & disc golf), as are the picnic areas. There are two large pavilions and one smaller one, all with tables and grills. In addition, picnic tables are scattered throughout the park, one with a large grill nearby. Also within the park, is a large children's playground including a designated area for younger children. The two restroom structures are well maintained. There's also one port-a-potty. There's plenty of parking. All-around, it's a...
Read moreDam at the Wehr Bridge Covered Park is now fully completed and looks great. They've added some new Post and rail fences along the edge between the dam and the bridge itself. Thinking you need to make improvements on the new walkway that extends all the way up to 476. Additional plantings are shown. The bridge itself looks like it possibly needs a roof and some repairs or renovations to the lap siding which is now loose and in some cases falling off. The playground is immensely popular. When we were there a few weeks ago, there were literally dozens and dozens of children and their parents using the playground equipment and enjoying...
