I really struggle with writing this review bc I love goats and their goats were lovely BUT I was extremely disappointed with their "policy" of no one watching their family members participate?? I bought multiple tickets to multiple experiences on the same day and tried to line up the timing so there was no down time but the farm reached out to me that morning and asked if we would be willing to switch our ticket time to earlier. Sure why not, right...wrong!! The change in time caused a window of downtime and i figured the 2 adults who weren't participating could just watch the kids while they waited for their event to start. We were VERY rudely told that was not possible and that their elderly grandmother would not be allowed to watch her grandkids hang out with the goats and that she could "wait in the car" (we wouldn't even leave a dog in the car let alone a family member) or take a walk OFF the property. All she wanted to do was stand outside of the fence and watch her grandkids for a few mins. Mind you she had a ticket for the next event so it wasn't like she was just "hanging around". If they had treated us with basic human decency, respect or even understanding I probably would've recommended this place to everyone and spent a lot more $$ there. But in this world of multi generational familys with each member having different needs, wants, and to be treated in way that left you feeling not welcomed was not worth the trip.
**tl:dr save your money and go somewhere else that will value your family and appreciate...
Read moreWe booked “Goat Snuggles” for my 2-year-old and myself. We had a really great experience. We arrived a little early and watched the goats and the chicken from behind the fence. There was also a working dog, a border collie, in another enclosure, that was running around very actively and my daughter couldn’t stop laughing watching it run around (kept her entertained before the Goat Snuggles started). When everyone gathered, Linda gave us a lot of useful and interesting information about the goats. We got a leash and a goat that we fed with treats that were provided. My daughter loved it and got a lot of laughs out of that too. The baby goat we got was very gentle, and licked the treats of my daughter’s palm. Afterwards, we went to a meadow to walk the goat. We also got brushes to give them some grooming. We had a really great time and I cannot thank Linda enough for making it such a great experience.
If you’re going with a toddler, it is definitely easier if you bring your spouse or another adult. You have to hold a leash with a goat with one hand and your toddler with another hand and no hands left for taking pictures with your phone 😄 However, it is still doable with just one parent. Linda helped us out with holding the leash and some other visitors did too, when I had to chase my toddler or take her to go get her water bottle from the car.
Overall - we had a really great time! Many thanks, Bradley Mountain Farm, we’ll be back with the rest if...
Read moreAs an animal lover I am always looking for the next animal activity. I was thrilled when I saw an article about Bradley Mountain Farm written in the “Things to do this weekend” section of the Hartford Courant this spring. I really wanted to participate in the “Goats in Pajamas” but was worried it was just for kids. I called for info and they assured me that plenty of adults enjoy this activity. So my husband, 4 friends and I signed up. It was a blast. The group was made up of 18 adults and 2 children. Everyone had so much fun. Since then my husband and several friends have participated in three “Goat Walks” and two “Join the Heard” activities. If we didn’t live 50 minutes away we would be there more often. The owners of the farm and the volunteers treat the goats like family. They actually kept a premature baby goat in their house for 7 weeks until she was strong enough to be with the other goats. Those are my kind of people! I’m happy to have found this place and would definitely recommend adult and children animals lovers to enjoy the many goat...
