Perfect place to cool off for a bit from the hot sun! Don't do what we did and drive up the gravel road to the top! That was scary in our car and its not the actual waterfall spot! There is a turn off you need to take (on the left) as you approach the canyon. If you hit the gravel gray stone road, you're making it harder on yourself. The left turn will lead you into a camp ground, where there is an information board and a designated parking area on the right. I would not recommended driving your car down the red dirt road to the actual falls; it has a lot of sand, boulders, and switchbacks! Its less than .5 miles, you can walk it! flip flops not recommended here as you'll be kicking up sand. We walked in and found the falls completed secluded and stayed for about 30 minutes. Travel tip: when you are walking the red sandy road, and get to the fork in the road (literally) that says creek to the left, and faux falls to the right, go to the right!! (I know, duh, but its actually confusing!)! Follow the red dirt road and you will be rewarded! Beautiful red rocks all around, stunning backdrop, and if you're lucky like we were, you may even have this magical place all to yourself! Greenery flourishes here in the summer, which was striking against the red rocks. Water shoes, sunscreen, and bathing suit required for an epic afternoon cool...
Read moreThis is a beautiful hiking area, I would say moderate difficulty, with great views of the valley. It is called Faux Falls because the waterfall is not naturally occurring but is caused by pumping water from a steam on the east side of the rock ridge. We parked above the falls and walked the road up to where the stream is. There are many beautiful rock formations to enjoy and a road by the stream for easy hiking. We found some low to medium quality pieces of agate scattered around the area, but a couple of nicely...
Read moreBeautiful area with some great desert landscapes and a great waterfall. We parked along the road and hiked down to the waterfall. It was steep, and there's soft sand, but it's absolutely doable. (Moderate hike when coming down off the road to falls, much easier to hike from lake or campgrounds up to falls). We have also hiked up from Ken's Lake to the falls and back down as well (that's an easy hike). It's worth the short visit to see. It's really beautiful out here, leave no...
