Hidden Gem Waterfalls and Hiking Paradise Near Charlotte, North Carolina

First and foremost. This is NOT a thing to do, if it off shape, overweight, older our intolerant of chaos. While it's only .6 miles from the parking lot, there are 380+ very very steep wooden stairs down to the bottom of the falls. It's not a traditional water fall. It's a long water shute that empties into a small pool at the bottom. KIDS ARE EVERYWHERE. Climbing on rocks. Sliding in the water. Think you're going to get a nice picture of the falls. FORGET IT. The bottom is just a cluttered mass of kids, parents, dogs, shoes and socks, water bottles. You name it. It's there. Don't expect a quiet place to sit either. Sharp jagged Boulders begging you to make one wrong step. Because when you do it's gonna hurt. Then after your shirt time at the falls, you now get the pleasure of walking UP 380+ wooden stairs before another gravel path. So unless you are 1. A glutton for punishment. 2. A water falls fanatic, The juice isn't worth the squeeze

I have complications from a former brain tumor and hiking is my favorite thing to do, I read reviews to make sure I can handle the hikes ahead. Here’s what I feel some reviews might of missed. There’s a couple places to park, we chose the further away spot to get the longer hike in. The trail was quite rough with loads of roots to navigate around. Such a beautiful hike though. I could not make it down to the falls as it began to rain. There is a part of the hike where the path turns into a slanted rock and if you hit it in the rain, you need to be aware that it could be a fall risk. My one suggestion would be to note the distances on each trail, the map we looked at did not have that, and if you are a disabled hiker like me, make sure to take a walking stick for the steep trails. OR park in the lot closer to the falls. If you see the cabin (as pictured below) You are in the wrong lot.

The trail to Stone Mountain Falls spans approximately 2.5 miles, providing a moderate hike suitable for both beginners and experienced hikers. The path is well-marked, guiding you through diverse terrain, including wooded areas and rocky sections. Along the way, expect captivating glimpses of wildlife and native flora. As you approach the falls, the sound of rushing water intensifies, heightening the anticipation of the stunning view that awaits. Overall, the trail offers a satisfying mix of natural beauty and a moderately challenging trek.

I hiked on this trail after rain, so the entire trail along with the stairs was very slippery. The entrance to the trails open at 7 AM, so I had to wait till the...
