This site does not have a Visitors' Center; it has a shelter with informational plaques to read. On the plus side, the restrooms were open, and yes, that's a good thing.
There's not a whole lot at the actual site but the self-guided driving tour brought us to a nice little trail that led to a monument of Upton's charge. The two images are on both sides of the same monument (sorry, one side was in deep shade but you can read it if you enlarge the image).

Read moreWe bike here all the time just for exercise and love it. Really nice paved road through a wooded landscape with little to no traffic. When there is traffic it’s slow. Another plus is that you have the battlefield and the history. There are also walking/hiking trails off the road. We usually do 2 laps of the main road on the bike which gets us a little over 15 miles with almost 1,000 feet of elevation gain (so half that for one lap). We have never ever had any problem parking at the main entrance where there is a small unstaffed welcome center...
Read moreVery nice park with well maintained trails and historical markers. Plenty of pavement to drive to each marker however, we chose to hike the trails with our 3 school-age kids. The hiking was easy but not very well marked in certain spots. I took a picture of the large posted map and it was very hard to follow. We got off track a couple of times. I recommend grabbing one of the paper maps if you plan to hike. Otherwise very neat to see the trenches. 75% shaded throughout and the entire trail is about 5 miles according...
