Had a great time fishing. . Love the atmosphere of the bar and restaurant. The service was minimal at best. It seemed as if the somewhat regular crowd had immediate service. I'm not sure if there was just some "off" nights for the server or if that is her regular theme for not so regular people. I timed our second visit a week later and we had about the same results for initial contact time. It was about 18 minutes before we even got acknowledged but noted that other people just entering the bar got service right away. We sat at the main bar in the same place both times. This is not really a total complaint because the food was great! The cooks prepared a nice presentation and meal. But just an awareness note of the service issue that was perceived by my wife and I which will deter us from taking the time to come in off the ice again to enjoy an evening at your...
Read moreIf you want the most abysmal fishing experience on lake of the woods, you can come right on down to springsteel resort!! Bad evrytime I go (been here multiple times per year in the last 3 years, and the biggest fish I've caught is a 16 inch walleye). And I could deal with that if the owner wasn't such a jerk. Told him the bathroom door in the tavern doesn't lock (it actually does, it's just finiky) because I couldn't get it locked, and he started screaming and throwing a fit, cussing at me, and kicked me out. I don't know if he was drunk or something, but that's NO way to treat your customers. He won't have to worry about me coming back. I'll just fish anywhere else. Seems like I have better luck...

The cabin rental, however, is outdated with bare bones, not something we were prepared for. This place was super busy, and if you're looking for a fishing resort, this is it. It wasn't a place you'd sit at your cabin to relax (and by cabin, I mean trailer). While it isn't our cup of tea, I wouldn't discredit it for others that are...
