Crews Lake Wilderness Park is a scenic recreational area located in Shady Hills in Pasco County, Florida. Nestled amidst natural surroundings, the park offers a variety of outdoor activities for visitors of all ages. It is heavily utilized. Boasting picturesque landscapes, Very secluded, quiet and full of shade from the beautiful canopy of the hanging oak trees overhead. I took my twins here for the train ride that the Central Pasco & Gulf Railroad does every second Saturday of the month. They run solely based on donations, one dollar per person is suggested but not necessarily required but honestly you should donate as they do so much for our community and for our little ones to have an immersive, educational, and fun experience! I suggest printing out the waiver at home and filling it out there to save time so you don’t have to fill it out when you get to the park. It’s on CPGRs website, they also have the dates and times listed for the train. When we went last weekend it was between 10 and 2 that they ran the train. The train ride goes all throughout the park and people say it’s only about 10 minutes but I think it was about 30 as we do take a stop to look at the model trains. Throughout the ride you get to go through tunnels and over wooden tracks, seeing other trains passing by, there was a Bigfoot statue we got to see on the train ride too and that was neat! Also, before the train ride starts you get to enter a little museum all about trains and the history of them, different antiques and parts from old railways and locomotives. It was pretty informative! The kids and I loved it! Definitely recommend this for all ages, it wasn’t packed at all like you’d expect on a Saturday. There was also a booth setup nearby selling Italian hot dogs and burgers, refreshments, and such. Crews Lake Wilderness Park provides opportunities for picnicking, birthday parties, wildlife and bird watching. The park is equipped with amenities such as playgrounds, shaded pavilions and picnic areas, a three story observation deck overlooking the lake, a boardwalk leading onto the lake, trails, and many fishing spots, catering to both families and outdoor enthusiasts. We went back yesterday to explore the rest of the park and my kids loved running around the fields and trails, they love boardwalks and observatory towers, they love every thing when it comes to being outside and having their feet in the grass being closer to the earth! This park is a community destination that showcases the beauty of the region's natural environment while providing a space for relaxation and outdoor recreation. 10/10! Such a beautiful park with...

Crews Lake Park is a hidden gem, a true haven for nature lovers and biodiversity enthusiasts. From the moment we set foot in the park, we were enveloped by its lush greenery and vibrant ecosystem.

The variety of flora is astounding. Towering oaks and maples provide a dense canopy, while an array of wildflowers adds splashes of color to the landscape. We were particularly captivated by the meadow areas, where native grasses and flowering plants thrive, attracting a plethora of butterflies and bees. It’s clear that the park's management prioritizes maintaining the natural habitat, which supports a rich tapestry of plant life.

The fauna is equally impressive. During our visit, we spotted several species of birds, including cardinals, blue jays, and even a majestic hawk soaring above. The park's ponds and streams are teeming with life as well. We saw frogs, turtles, and even a family of ducks gliding across the water. The diversity of wildlife makes Crews Lake Park a living classroom, perfect for both casual observers and serious nature enthusiasts.

One of the highlights was a guided nature walk led by a knowledgeable park ranger. We learned about the various ecosystems within the park and the importance of each species in maintaining ecological balance. It was both educational and inspiring to see such a well-preserved natural area in the heart of our community.

Crews Lake Park is not just a place for passive enjoyment; it offers a range of activities that let visitors immerse themselves in nature. Well-maintained trails invite hikers and bikers to explore, while designated picnic areas provide perfect spots for a family outing. There are also several quiet areas ideal for bird-watching or simply relaxing and soaking in the serene environment.

In summary, Crews Lake Park is a stunning example of biodiversity at its best. It offers a refreshing escape into nature, with its diverse plant and animal life creating a dynamic and beautiful landscape. Whether you’re a local resident or a visitor, this park is a must-see destination that celebrates and preserves the wonders of the...

I really enjoy coming here. I live next county over, and initially came along to help because my family members belong to a club for Train Enthusiasts which is located in the park. However, I love the trains and love this park as a whole. The trails, the pavilions, the camping areas, the amphitheater- what a functional beauty! It’s an amazing its location in the woods. I wonder if I can get married here… seriously. I see families with their children, grandparents even great-grandparents with little ones. The playgrounds are very nice and modern, there is a sports fields and plenty of parking all around. Large visible bathroom buildings always clean and no shortage of toilet tissue or soap for hand washing. ( I’m here usually 3 - 5 days in a row every month and I love exploring this wilderness park on foot and while riding my E-bike. Waving at others on bikes, hoverboards, rollerblades, I’m bringing my roller skates next time. An early skate before the park gets busy then an afternoon walk on the trails will be my next adventure here. It really is heart warming to me when I see disabled persons both young and old in a wheelchair or motorized scooter; seeing these people being able to enjoy the experience of nature truly is priceless plus the absolute fun the open air train rides are. Many smiles on many faces. This is what I see when I’m out and about exploring or helping out with the trains. A very beautiful natural wilderness park. Indeed a Gem. 1 of many different cool places Pasco County has to offer its residents and to all who visit. Kudos to the Ranger and...

Excellent wilderness park. It tends to flood in several areas when it rains, but this is normal for an unmanicured park. The pier is currently being rebuilt and the tower, which has been pulled down, will be rebuilt shortly after. There is a nice playground for children and several covered picnic areas. Good hiking trails and camping spots and the little train is nice for families to ride on in the fall. It would be nice if there were more activity areas, like a frisbee golf area or scavenger hunt trails available. But it's nice as it is. Edit: It's been 2 years! The pier is finished and the tower is finally being rebuilt. The park is just as beautiful but there are more families visiting now and even just adults walking around together. I think people appreciate this park more after Covid. You can reserve a pavilion or the cabin for your use and the park employees are still very friendly.
