Decent length range, kind guys working there. However, there is a nickname, "Death Valley Range" here for a reason. Shooters here don't always follow gun safety rules, and as an RSO isn't always walking around, they often get away with it. I've seen people firing during a ceasefire period, seen people mishandling firearms, watched people in the handgun area pulling triggers on handguns with muzzles pointed towards other shooters saying, "I can't figure out why my laser isn't working." This isn't the fault of Spring Valley, but just comes with the territory of having tons of shooters out firing at will. Some days you go and there's almost no one there which is great. Other times it's packed. Some days there are responsible shooters, other days I pack up and leave early.
The range itself is nice if you're looking to practice some longer range rifle shooting. I personally don't like the handgun bays, as they're pretty small and odd...
Read moreWow. I have been going here since it opened and what they have done with the place. It's incredible. Shady. Clean. Options galore. You got to come. It's as perfect as an outside shooting range, could be. Good bathrooms and all. Thanks, State of Ohio.
🚨Butt🍑!!!!@$$%%#@&🚨, my only gripe, im a cancer patient, and I am not that comfortable in the shooting table and on that board. It's that way so you can stand up and shoot. Sitter be ware. You can't get further away from the top of the table very well. Im 6'6" and I found myself on top of the table with the rifle as far forward as possible because I couldn't get my behind further off the back. Oh, last picture I uploaded was from when it started. Don't forget your license that you can easily purchase online. They can you in and scan you out. Don't forget your ammo. Don't forget hearing and eye protection. But, most of all, have a good time because life is...
Read moreI use Spring Valley for the ODNR shooting range located there. The range is nice for sighting in a new optic or just plinking, but it has some pretty strict rules that make not very useful for defensive gun work or training for any kind of competition shooting that requires speed. The range officers there are quite friendly and helpful. There is a site for skeet shooting with a rather large number of trap throwers. They also offer a stationary archery range with varied distances and elevations to shoot from. You will need to purchase an ODNR range pass to use any of the facilities found there, which is either $5 for a day pass or an annual range pass, which runs from March through February, can be purchased for $24. The range pass allows you access to use any of the ODNR shooting ranges found...
