I suppose I’m biased…because I’m travel-lazy…ok, and a cheapskate. This spot is 20 minutes from my house, an annual car pass only costs about $30 and a walking round of 18 holes (golf) is only $19 (senior rate)! But, the incredible part is how meticulously maintained this (and Kensington - the only two Metroparks at which I’ve golfed because of how I described myself above) golf course is. The fairways are like other’s greens. Granted, I’ve not played any uber-bourgeois venues (more of that lazy and cheap guy again) so my adulation may be due to my lack of experience..or, I’m easily impressed. One or the other. If you’re wild left or right (careful when ball hunting - poison ivy everywhere!), bring a dozen or more balls. The staff is great; I’ve yet to meet a jerk working there. Heck, the grounds manager has a dog and drives around the course with it in the cart. The clubhouse is clean and has food available. A driving range is there, too; very affordable. If I could change anything, it would be this:

  1. increase tee time spacing to 12 minutes (currently 8). There’s always a wait on every tee.
  2. build hitting cages like Kensington so people can warm up without having to buy a bucket and hit the range (that’s the cheapskate talking; Kensington hasn’t got a range. Hence, the warmup cages). Suggestions aside, for the price, this place cannot be beat. It’s an unqualified gem, albeit the man-made variety. I make reservations and pre-pay online, using the Metroparks website. Very convenient! I’m also a senior (55+) so I get a fantastic perk: play 5, get one free. So, I buy 5 round here and play the sixth at one of the more expensive Metroparks courses (they are not all the same greens fees). I tip my hat to the administrators of these incredible courses (and parks systems as a whole; there’s A LOT more to do here and at the other parks than just curse at a little, white ball for four+ hours. Exposition complete! Go out and enjoy this...

Indian Springs is our favorite park and close to home! We came here on one of our first dates and continue to love spending time here. The nature trails are fantastic! Our favorite hike we took was the wetlands/marsh in the early Spring and it was gorgeous! Love all the scenery and wildlife. They have a giant sundial. What they've done to preserve nature here is wonderful. The nature center teaches you all about how the park was constructed, is maintained, what animals you might see, and more. Lots of stuff inside for children to interact with. Pelts to touch, bones, taxadermy, wood to build stuff with rather than shaped blocks, everything is very interactive. There is a giant underwater dome you can walk under. It needs A LOT of work and is kind of falling apart. But it's still REALLY cool. They have a great spray park. 2 different playgrounds, one for toddlers (super fun cups that spin, my husband has to help me out of 🤣) and one that's more advanced and secluded (most don't even know it's here). They have a giant maze you can walk through. A very beautiful event center that I strongly considered for our wedding. I highly recommend this place! You won't be able to discover everything they have to...

firstly, from what ive seen, this park is absolutely beautiful and the workers are nice; buti havent really gotten to explore it. we payed $10 to get in, went into the nature center thingy and immediately a woman told us she saw and got bit by multiple ticks in the pond room. i went down the stairs a liiiittle just to peek and saw a lil round bug on the steps,, i didnt get close enough to see if it was actually a tick because i was immediately like nope LOL but other than that, the park looked very beautiful while we were driving through it!!! im excited to come back with some tick spray, and it probably wasnt really necessary that we left but i just didnt wanna risk it lol ticks freak me out, just thought id mention this but ofc every park is gonna have ticks outside so its best to be prepared always and i wasnt so thats on me lol !! also from what i saw the inside of the building is beautiful, super clean and i loved the taxiderm...

The spray park is dilapidated. There's literally flex seal slapped over the faucet that used to fill the bucket that dumps. The "spray and play" park is literally only jets out of the ground at different angles except for maybe two toys that spin, one some jets on a raised platform and the other some single jets to spray at each other like a squirt gun I guess. We had fun, their playground looks amazing but has no shade or cooling whatsoever so there wasn't a single person on it on such a beautiful day. Compared to a similar playground yesterday that was hard to find parking at. The spray and play needs major renovation and the playground needs some shade extremely bad. If those two things get taken care of it will probably be a park worth the $10 a day you have to pay compared to a free park like say Scarlet's Playground.

We were so excited to make it here! It’s so fascinating that this is where the headwaters of the Huron River originate. Really it’s a bit further north at Big Lake, but the stretch of the Huron through Indian Springs is really neat. Having kayaked the full length of the Huron (from just south of Commerce Lake to Lake Erie), we were stoked to see this part of the region. It did not disappoint! We visited near the end of April. Several of the floating bridges over the Huron proper were impassable due to high water. No matter- it was still a blast! We saw so many skunk cabbage as well as spring ephemerals like Mayapples and trillium! We saw waterfowl and various birds. We will definitely be back at different times of year to see how it changes! Well worth the $10 to support this well run park!

They have a new cool playground rly jig with lots of different things for the kids to try according their age. Paid $10 for a day pass. This Metro park is huge, has lots of good trails for walking, biking running, etc. There’s a pretty nice splash pad with lots of picnic tables around and a playground nearby. There are no restrooms or changing rooms close to the splash pad area or water fountains which is a bummer, only mobile restrooms very very dirty…🥲 There’s some other fun areas like the climbing wall and the big rope spiderwebs! I loved the Nature Center the building itself is gorgeous you can go to the lowest floor go inside the dome underwater, pretty cool. Other than that there’s not a lot to see inside.
