I wanted to go to the Car Show and Swap Meet this weekend and Swap meet next. Unfortunately I'm 80% military disabled and just had a knee replacement. My wife is on a cane and scheduled for the first of 2 knee replacements on the 19th of Oct. I queried about bringing my personal golf cart to get around the grounds. They stated when i called they are trying to get out of the use of personal golf carts and that in order to use a personal cart you have to have: A rider on your insurance policy for the golf cart which I don't have. I use this golf cart around the yard and use for our garden. How many people really have insurance on a used 1991 golf cart?
Proof of disability which I have but wife doesn't at this time. Currently working with doctor to get one
And only the disabled person can ride, all others must walk.
Guess I will never be visiting the fairgrounds again if this is how they treat the disabled. So much for Springfield taking care of their own.
OH YEAH, CHAMPAIGN COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS HAVE NO ISSUE WITH USING YOUR OWN CART. GUESS I'LL GO THERE TODAY AND SPEND MY MONEY IN...
Read moreThe overall fair was great. The rodeo was a rip off. There was an older gentleman that went through the 8 dollar entrance. There are signs everywhere 8 dollars per person “No refunds”. He wanted a refund. There must have been 13 police around him. I thought dude learn to read. Then we, my wife, grand daughter, and I, paid and went in. He was right! From where you sit it is far away from the event and obstructed by the fence. It wouldn’t keep any kid’s attention. There sign should say distant obstructed view. We did not stay. That was a rip off and that poor man was only trying to get what he paid for. We were supposed to be joined by our other family members and quickly called them and sent pictures. They obviously chose to miss the rodeo. As we walked out, we showed people in line the view they don’t tell you about and let people with kids know that they were being ripped off. That was awful and I felt bad for all of the eyes and thoughts that went out towards that poor man. The people who run the Clark county fair...
Read moreWent to Springfield Extravaganza and was VERY disappointed with the lack of handicapped parking! The people doing the parking had no walkies and had no clue what they were doing. My husband had to push our handicapped son thru wet grass for what seemed like a mile and I had to push a roller walker the same distance. We had a handicapped parking tag hung on the front in plan sight and even asked the guy and he threw up his hands and said park where ever. What a mess! We were exhausted before we got to the vendors and sure didn't stay long. It was a waste of gas and money for early admission and we won't be going in September or next year. Shame fairgrounds can't get it together. Sure don't remember it being like this last year. Really a...
