Visited for the golf course. This could be a fun, top notch course. But there were a few things which made playing aggravating since it was my first time to play the course. First, many of the greens weren't in sight of the tee boxes. Most courses have a marker indicating the direction of the green from the tee box, so you know in what direction to hit the ball when you tee off. Several markers were laying on the ground, or were down in valleys behind the hill you were hitting over or all the way down by the green. (I wondered if some of the young golfers had moved them around to prank other golfers.) So you couldn't see the marker until you already hit the ball, then drove the cart over the hill. Secondly, there were several young guys who were skipping around holes on the course. We would pull up to a tee box, and there would be different guys in front of us on the tee box than the people we were playing behind. One group played hole number 18, then came back to play 17 and 18 again while we waited. It was aggravating. Third, the sand in the traps were like concrete. You could literally walk across them and hardly leave any tracks from your golf shoes. Fourth, the distance markers on the cart paths need to be re-painted. Some were impossible to read. The course is scenic. My experience was okay and I'm hoping it will be even better if we give it another try. However, the course employees I encountered were very friendly...
ย ย ย Read moreThis course was built on the land that was home steaded by Abe Lincolns parents, and ancestors. Pretty cool. Unfortunately for them they didn't get to play the course. I only visit Ky a couple of times a year and have a number of preferred places to play. This is a unique, old style course built around old growth oaks, lakes and yes, log cabins. However, it is in great condition, tees, greens and fairways. I am a 16 handicapper and find it very challenging. I will keep Lincoln Homestead on my list for future...
ย ย ย Read moreI took my husband and grandson there to fish. The lake is larger than I realized with good access for kayaks, canoes and other paddling boats. There is a deck area that could use some attention, but itโs safe to walk on and makes a good fishing platform. The one drawback - lack of bathrooms, even a port-a-potty would work. Very peaceful. I also enjoyed taking photos of the wildflowers, butterflies and...
