Born and raised in Utah, I’ll admit it’s taken me 36 years to attend World FolkFest. But this week, I’ve attended every event, and it's been hard to put my experience into words. Honestly, it's shocking to see such a small turnout for an event that’s been running for almost 40 years, but in today's climate, both nationally and in Utah, safety concerns are undoubtedly a big part of the issue. This isn’t the fault of the organizers, though; it's a reflection of the times.
As someone deeply committed to community building, healing through inclusion, and diversity, I can think of no better way to foster connection than through World FolkFest. Dancers from across the globe have traveled here, to Springville, Utah, to share their cultures, traditions, and resilience. It’s been a privilege to witness their joy and strength and to join them in moving my body with that same resilience.
I’m excited to spend the rest of the week dancing, learning, and connecting. When the world feels heavy and divided, there’s nothing more profound than showing up for one another, especially in celebration of what makes us different. If you’re looking for a place of light and connection, I invite you to join us at World FolkFest. It’s a rare opportunity to bask in the beauty of diversity and celebrate the richness of our...
Read moreWonderful!!! Our first time at this event and we loved it. There was some weather/wind/rain before it started and then some, which was actually helpful in cooling things down and making it very comfortable. Bring your own chairs. There are a variety of food trucks but know that lines can be long. There are restrooms available (in a regular building). Gates open at 6pm (at least tonight, which was the final night). There is a good-size parking lot but people tend to park in all kinds of random ways, so be advised, getting out when you are ready to leave can be a challenge. Also know that the whole thing last about 4 hours, with a 20-minute intermission. Being 9pm when this occurred tonight, we left at that point, and there were still a lot of countries/groups left to perform. It would be nice to shorten this whole thing somehow, on the final night. It was wonderful to talk with some of the people from the different countries like Romania and Poland and others. Highly...
Read moreIn July 2025, we attended the World Folkfest in Springville, Utah. World Folkfest is a folk dance festival that features amazing dances, costumes, and music from a variety of different countries and cultures. The festival was highly enjoyable and memorable, and we have a better understanding of different countries and cultures. There is grass seating available, so bring your lawn chairs or blankets. The stage and venue are amazing, and the lighting and sound add to the festive atmosphere. The ticket prices are reasonable, especially for 3 hours of amazing performing arts entertainment. We highly recommend attending the World Folkfest in...
