Only thing that deserves a star is the food, everything else was a nightmare. Happy to explain further for those contemplating having their wedding at heritage prairie farm, variwedding@gmail.com. Fishermanâs inn, also in Elburn was my second choice, similar price point. Definitely wish I wouldâve went to fishermanâs. Iâve reached out to the owner after my wedding and she refuses to talk to me about my nightmare of a wedding day. Donât believe me? Try it. Her name is Jessica. I had an appointment to talk to her and that day came and went and the next day her assistant called me and said it slipped her mind. If you had an upset customer wouldnât you want to make that a priority?
I think itâs family owned, all about the profit. We contemplated paying for one more hour, leaving at 10 instead of 9pm and they asked for $2,000. I asked what it included and they said the bartender.
I have 15 other guests with aweful experiences with the event planner Shannon. TRUST ME, do not go through the same mistake. I regret booking my wedding here. The positive reviews are only referring to the food and the atmosphere, the rest was a complete nightmare Iâll have to remember the rest of my life. I promise.
Arrived on time for rehearsal at 5:15, told us we all needed to be off the property at 5:30. As we were loading up in the car Shannon, event planner, leaves with her purse while florists were still on property. We were rushed and unnecessarily.
I was contacted the morning of my wedding saying the venue wanted to change a bunch of things, (I.e. cutting/serving cake at a different time, removing decor that they agreed to set up).
Did not cut or serve my three tier cake. We wanted cake cut after dinner and they said it wouldnât give them enough time to cut and serve the cake so we paid for another layer to give them a heads start. They put about ten pieces on a side table and never served anyone. My guests asked me where the cake was the next day. We went to pick up some small decor the next day and they physically handed me back our three tier cake saying they never cut into it.
They agreed to set up our Photobooth and just before the ceremony they unplugged it and it was out of order the remainder of the night.
We had a micro wedding due to covid, so it ended at 9, and they packed up all favors and started covering furniture at 8:45.
I had less than half a bin of decor they agreed to put out, never did.
I had a vegetarian at the head table who was never served a meal, after several clarifying emails.
We were missing cards that guests had left for us, and were never accounted for.
I wanted photos of my new husband solo before everyone else was allowed in the reception, and they invited everyone in the tent.
I had professional programs made that were never put out even when they...
Read moreWhere do I begin with my dissatisfaction? I bought 8 tickets for their pig gig farm dinner for my wife and I and a group of friends to attend. When I bought the tickets their website said that tickets were 21 and over, which I assumed was because they included beer pairings. We have a 6 month old daughter that my wife is nursing. The day of the event, my wife was turned away because our daughter is under 21. I asked for a refund. They refused. My wife, being the awesome person she is, insisted I go with our friends anyway and she would stay home with our daughter. The day of the event they changed the language on their website after I complained so much, making it far more clear that they will turn away anyone under 21, including a nursing infant and her mother. The event was $90/person. The food was mediocre at best. Penrose supplied great beer, but the rest for $90 was not worth it in my opinion. A salad consisting of lettuce and sliced radishes. Pork meatballs. Penne pasta mac & cheese. Pulled pork which was dry, and cold by the time they served it and we waited 10 minutes before the bbq sauce arrived (which I will put money on that it was sweet baby ray's). The dessert was apple pancake biscuit things in syrup which were not bad. I asked for a to go plate for my wife which they gave me a bag when we left. I got home to find that there was no salad, no dessert, and a tiny bit of the rest of the meal. That's what they gave me for her $90 plate. I brought almost $800 worth of business to them and was treated rudely by the owner who refused to accommodate my wife and child in the slightest. The event was outdoors in a tent. It was so loud there that we could barely hear our friends at the other end of our table. My daughter could have been screaming and throwing a tantrum and no one would have cared...
Read moreI cannot say enough nice things about Heritage Prairie Farm. All-inclusive, in the truest sense of the word. We got access to a 5-peak century tent + rustic barn + greenhouse + the entire grounds. We had a grazing table for cocktail hour, firepit and smores, late night snack, unlimited bar, three passed apps + 4 course meal created ENTIRELY from scratch to our specifications, lunch during the day for bridal party, and dessert add-ons, for far less than ANY other place we toured. They literally have a whole pdf of little additional perks that are just included â sun parasols, bug spray, sign holders, card boxes, votive candles, table runners? Included. Anything you can think of was probably included. Valet parking attendants! Custom chalkboard illustrations! Specialty cocktails made with syrups infused with herbs from the farm! We were talking about renting furniture to make an outside lounge, and instead the venue just designed one from gorgeous couches, tables and rugs they had âlying aroundâ! We wanted a chuppah and they dug out birch poles that another couple had left and gave them to us for free. For an additional cost, they would have designed and printed all of our paper products. I could go on and on about how much of a steal this place is, but the biggest thing I can say to recommend them is that I really trusted that they were trying to do the best they could for us, and that they legitimately wanted us to have a good experience without nickel and diming us. Melissa was an amazing point person through the whole process, and everyone else we worked with so lovely as well. I know everyone raves about their wedding experience because itâs their wedding, but please believe this was a truly stand out vendor, and they deserve...
