We've been to Otter Cove every year since it's grand opening (my husband is the graphic designer that was hired by the STC Park District to hand draw/design the Otter Cove Logo, "Ollie" the otter, the 3-D park map & all the other signage you see throughout the waterpark)...not only were/are we thrilled with how well all his design work came out but we love the park (& continue to visit every year even though we moved out of the area over 4 years ago)! This year's addition of the "racing slides" was a lot of fun for both our 14 & 9 year olds; and our 14 year old enjoyed the new drop slide. Plenty to do here for all ages of the family! Park is kept clean (although water could have been a touch cleaner- this year we could see a "film" of sunscreen in the water), bathrooms are moderately to mostly clean, food area (The Dive) was our least favorite part of this year's trip...food was barely edible (very disappointing, especially after dropping over $35 for lunch) & whole area is in desperate need of new tables (all tables were extremely dirty & rusty). Gotta pay attention to these little details in order to keep people coming back. But overall we had a great time & would recommend this...
Read moreOne of the hottest last weekends of the summer. I looked forward to the baby pool and had my baby ready in sunscreen and a swimdiapsuit,.. just to find out that the toddler pool is closed... but not only that -the race slide is closed -the body slide is closed There is little shade and it's taken unless you rent a space ahead of time $$$. Why isn't there more shady areas!? It's mobbed, the only slide open that isn't in the deep end, has a line all the way to the ground. So let's have fun on the lazy river right? Madhouse Is anything orderly? Is anyone letting anyone get out before they put their tubes down and hand it to the next person in line? Noo. It's a free-for-all with older kids jumping in front of families waiting patiently for tubes with little kids and it's mayhem trying to get in and out, congested all in one spot. Really?
Super unhappy. They can do better than this.
**update. Half an hour later they closed the main pool because of "debris" (poo?), so everyone ran to the deep end slides and the lazy river. Luckily, many people left and we had a chance to enjoy what was left of the park. They later opened the main pool...
Read moreFirst time here. Came to relax in the lazy river. When purchasing entrance for the day asked at the front office if lockers are free. Gal told me inside the locker rooms were free. THEY ARE NOT. Bring a quarter or you will be unable to lock things up. Also, several of the lockers did not release a key and ate the quarters. Spent over 25 minutes trying to find a locker that worked.
Got here early in the hopes of a relaxing ride around a few times before it got crowded. The walk the lazy river event ran longer than the scheduled 30 minutes and there was confusion as it ended up a mix of walking and tubes for about 20 minutes before someone finally figured it out. Was also overrun by a summer camp with not enough advisors to watch them all.
I lasted 3 runs around the lazy river before I decided to get out and injured my knee in the pool in the process, right near a lifeguard. He never noticed. After stopping the bleeding I hobbled to first aid and met the first responsive and kind individual here as she provided an ice pack. Ended up leaving after less than 2 hours total here due to injury.
Overall a...
