Horrible. Horrible . Horrible . This was our first time here, because my family drove 5 hours to be with our farther on fathers day, Plus his birthday. It ended horribly!! We bought floats from the dollar general and some fishing poles. The beach was so crowded so we took our floats and kayak to the side of the beach where others were and their was a free table. We got set up and headed out to float and get a tan which didn’t last long we had a pontoon float up to us in which I thought we was going to get ran over. It’s was the DNR this lady said we can’t have any Floats of any kind on the water and we need a life jacket. Grant you we are all grown women and men here. She took our social security number and names while we were in the water she was yelling because she wouldn’t turn her boat off. Which was dangerous with us beside her. She told us to wait on land for our citations. We comply and get out. We are shocked that you can’t float In This lake we didn’t see not one sign that said it. But she insisted their was, But a man let us know the sign is down the hill at the beach area. WE WAITED 2 HOURS FOR THIS DNR, she pulled every single person off that lake and gave them tickets. Wasn’t no one left!! She ruined our dinner plans and my fathers birthday party with his cake. All because we was on our 7.00 dollar watermelon float from dollar general!!! Now we all 4 have a 250.00 dollar ticket. This lady didn’t give a warning or nothing and we have never been here. She said that someone called on us. Her hands were tied. I asked her why the ticket though because we didn’t see any signs she told us that if the STATE PARKS posted every law on a sign their would be no where to walk. Its our responsibility to GO ONLINE and learn all of the laws for all the parks you go too. She also said she was being nice and didn’t get us for three other violation. Which I couldn’t imagine what it could be. We recorded all of this also. We are good people. Trying to have a family day with my father who just got diagnosed with cancer and my family drove hours to see him to have everything ruined by her. The DNR needs to desperately have another person out there. I understand doing your job And had she just told us we would of gotten out no problem but when people truly don’t know the rules. Give them a warning not a citation. Bark Camp state park, also has horrible restrooms. The MONEY that the DNR is making off of the citations she wrote that day could pay for a new restroom for the park. Their was people fighting and drinking while she was giving our tickets but she just told them to leave.. I guess giving a ticket to grown adults for floating is more important than people drinking...
Read moreIts a really beautiful park. Your spaces are really big. They have concrete pads to park rv on and you get a good amount of spaces in the grass. Plenty of things to do here. Martha at front desk was a doll very nice!! Electric hookups only with water spouts in several areas to fill rv and dump station on the way out. Im not sure why this place doesnt have better reviews. Its really beautiful here.
Edit!!!! We atayed 3 nights. When we first got there lady at front deskwasvery nice. after that not so much. she was actually kinda of snobby when we wanted to stay for another night. We were going to stay a 4th night but when I called up there to book another night she seemed annoyed that I even called so we packed up and headed out. park is gorgeous but they lack on customer service. Another issue the dump station is set up horribly becareful or you will get nasty poo water on you bc of the set up yuk😝 I changed my review from a 5 to a 3 bc customer service is very important to me. We do this full time im not a picky person and often leave the highest scores on campsites especially when...
Read moreWe were very excited to get out new camper out for a fall trip. The site , #11, is one of our favorites. However, after spending over $500. on a Dish for our enjoyment, we were unable to use it because of the overgrowth of very high trees. Some of these trees are already dead and only standing because they are braced by the live ones on either side. We were also disappointed in the lack of grass in the site and the mud holes left by a hard rain the night before we checked in. After checking in, we asked for straw to put down so we could even get to the fire ring. They brought it first thing the next morning. We love Barkcamp, it's not that far from home which is perfect, for this season. All in all, we're extremely pleased with this beautiful State Park, right in our back yard... we stay in this turn around area because it's the pet friendly area and it's full hookup. So another area isn't conducive to our needs.
BUT WE'RE ASKING THAT THE OVERGROWTH AND DEAD TREES BE REMOVED BY NEXT SPRING. PLEASE...
