Our visit to Bee City in Summerville, South Carolina was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. It was as if the universe conspired to make our day as miserable as possible. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by a swarm of entitled Karen-type moms who seemed to think that the entire park was their personal fiefdom. These rude women, accompanied by their obnoxious little brats, made it abundantly clear that our presence was unwelcome.
As if that weren't enough, the park was overrun by day camps filled with rowdy and unruly children who showed no regard for personal space or basic manners. We patiently waited for half an hour in what was supposed to be a "line" for the Safari, only to have our hopes dashed as a horde of kids plowed us over without a second thought. The lack of any semblance of organization or crowd control was painfully evident, and the absence of any staff members attempting to regulate the chaos was beyond baffling.
But the icing on the cake was when we approached the manager to voice our concerns about the blatant lack of management and structure. Their response was nothing short of infuriating – they brazenly told us that they couldn't control people's behavior, completely disregarding the fact that it's their responsibility to create a safe and enjoyable environment for their visitors. It was as if they had never heard of concepts like queuing or order.
Our experience at Bee City was so overwhelmingly awful that I cannot stress enough how much I would discourage anyone from visiting this godforsaken place. The combination of rude parents, feral children, and a complete lack of management or organization resulted in a day that I genuinely wish I could erase from my memory. Save yourself the agony and avoid Bee City at all costs – unless, of course, you enjoy being bullied by Karen moms and trampled by packs of...
Read moreYou know a person has a sour expression when you’re waiting to buy tickets hoping NOT to get that person’s window. The young lady in window #2 could not have been more uninformative or depressing. If you want to feed the animals food is extra and if you want to get into the parakeet enclosure you must pay extra. Same with the kangaroo enclosure. It seems everything was an extra charge on top of the admission. Visited on a school day and there were 6 buses there so it was a bit crowded but not too bad. By the afternoon all the buses were gone so if you’re looking for less kids visit then. Honestly if you just want to touch one of the monkeys stand next to a child feeding them. Do NOT waste your money on the Safari Ride. We were crammed knee to knee in a wagon and the driver stopped far from where the animals were lounging. Most of the animals were not interested in getting up to get the kibble we were given to feed them and stayed where they were. I don’t know if we stopped closer would they have. The “ride” is literally up and back, with one stop in each paddock. Not worth the money to possibly touch a herd animal and if you were in the center row you could not anyway. The animals we saw appeared to be in good health but other reviewers were right in that the tiger enclosure is just too small. It would be great if they could build something much bigger. The giraffe was a surprise as we went up on the platform to view them and a young man had (gasp) free carrots to feed them. We took our time to wade amongst the school children so that we would arrive at an enclosed before or after a class. Would have loved to attend some educational talks on the animals and bees. We had not been here since it was ONLY the bees. Speaking of which there is a building where you lift the panel to see active bees, which Bee City does bring to the...
Read moreOk honest review here I will say it was better than I expected way more animals than I expected to see the exhibits where clean and maintained well the staff were kind 90% of them had great energy and made the experience fun. The "Safari" was a fun experience thanks to the staff being very kind I suggest you just get it with the entry not much extra and you get to feed them animal food included. The sticker shock of $12 for the oats and carrots was a bit much but the bird coin and monkey coin for the exhibits level out the cost. Now to the not great stuff. when you purchase your tickets at the gate the tablet will ask for a tip 15% and up didn't see an option to not tip I asked bout it the gate person said it's for the animals. In my mind I'm like then what's my gate fee for. Later got snacky orderd the nachos with cheese saw there was an extra sauce option for under a dollar I was like well ok. The "manager" walked up saying that be another $1.40 I said oh sorry the sign said 79¢ for extra sauce just assumed. she seemed disgruntled so I said no worries forget it just give me the basic nachos and cheese. Gave them. $5 bill the poor person at the window looked embarrassed so I said keep the change to move it along. Finally got the nachos I understand mark up but they were a joke picture included. I reckon moral of the story I hate when companies try to sneak in extra charges. Didn't feel like buying anything at the gift shop because I didnt wanna be forced to tip again. wraping it up I'm glad I went once yes would I go out of my way to see...
