This ride was an absolute disappointment. We left the Gateway Arch and almost immediately the experience went from awesome to unsightly. It's obvious that the people in charge have abandoned the Greenway. The first several miles of it is full of abandoned buildings, graffiti, stench and more. In fact,, once you leave the Arch there access is either blocked or closed. We had to go up a couple of blocks around to get on it.. I thought a milenor two of unsightly views but 5-6 miles into it there we're still junk yards. It does not feel safe at all. I wouldn't bring my kids on this ride nor would I recommend riding it alone, male or female. The ride sucks almost in its entirety. The pics I'm sharing is the best views the ride provided. Grass over grown, saw a couple of snakes crossing the path. Dreadful. GOLD NUGGET: The start (The Gateway Arch) and the very end (the mile-long historical Route 66 bridge) are the only gems on this ride. If you can deal with the miserable ride then the start & finish are truly gold nuggets. Whom ever is in charge should declare it closed or should clean it up & make it safe.

I love that you can stand right at the mighty Mississippi. Plenty of parking. Paved area to walk or bike around. It's a good quiet place to enjoy the Majesty of the river.

Stopped here real quickly while in the area. It's a quiet park, with a nice bicycle lane and a good view of the Mississippi River

Really cool bike trail that traverses many scenic and interesting areas. The trail is well paved and suitable for: Road, Race and Mountain Bikes alike. It goes past miles of amazing Graffiti Art on a flood wall, past The Gateway Arch/ National Park, past old factories, mills and train yards, and through a wildlife area where we have seen: Deer, Wild Turkey, Pelicans, Skunks, Coyotes, Vultures and the occasional Bald Eagle. You can ride till your heart's content, because the trail feeds directly into another Scenic trail on The Illinois side by crossing the very scenic, Chain-Of-Rocks Bridge to the Madison County Transit Trail. If doing A Century (100 miles) isn't enough ( That's the distance from The Arch to Madison County and Back), the trail continues to Beautiful Alton, past the Lock and Dam, On to The Cadey Trail which I have been told, goes all the way...

The park before you access the trail is unkempt, there's trash everywhere in the parking area the bathrooms appear not to have been opened for decades and there are always what appears to be abandoned cars in the parking area as well as people sitting alone in cars with tinted windows and it's incredibly depressing considering it right along the Mississippi River. The trail itself is wide & free from debris but accessing it is very uncomfortable and quite sad I wouldn't advise going to this park alone at any time and although the trail is pretty nice I would not go on that alone either because of the visitors that seemed to be waiting around on someone or something be careful when you visit here and take a...
