Rose, from the Big Y Stafford Springs, CT, Floral Department, is fabulous! She recently took and designed my flowers order for my Grandmother’s 100th birthday party this past weekend. I advised that I wanted blues and pinks, with baby’s breath and some greenery to arrange in teacups for the centerpieces. For a minimal charge, she put them together and exceeded my expectations! Thank you, Rose, for making my life easier and my Grammy’s party extra beautiful!!

Great spot to pick up lunch. There's a pizza & sandwich spot close to the register and a seafood spot in the back. In addition, there are other options. On wednesday, the sushi are discounted. Furthermore, there is an eating area past the register. Big Y tends to be more expensive than other markets, but there are discounted items from time to time.

Nice clean grocery store. They have a ton of fresh produce, baked goods, several ready to eat options. Its sad to see that what was once a large shopping plaza down to just a handful of stores. Don't let that deter you though. This store has everything you need. If you are not from CT (like myself) be sure to bring your own reusable bags.

I only put one star because i can't put zero. I have never in my life been so disgusted with a store in my life. I just left the stafford, ct store which is the only grocery store in town. I told the cashier and bagger i did not want to purchase bags because i had brought my own. The bagger states he had things to dowhick i ignored because he's an older man and i was raise to be respectful of others. Part way through my transaction he asked the cashier for bags i again stated that i did not want to buy bags and the bagger truly attempted to argue with me and said they're only $.10. which is not the issue the issue is i had already made it clear i didn't want them so why are you trying to force that purchase on me? This is not the first time i have been addressed in such a rude manor at this store however it will be the last as i refuse to spend my hard earn money in a place that feels they have a right to talk to people like that or try to force yourself to spend more money than you planned on regardless of what the extra cost might be it's bad business. I will plan in the future to stop on my way home at other store before i give even one more penny...

So they carry "store made pumpkin pies" I haven't seen them out yet this year, and I don't know if it's just this store, but the pumpkin pie is soooo bland, I LOVE pumpkin pies but year after year I try a Big Y pie and it's still terrible. And I haven't met too many pumpkin pies I didn't like. It's as if they forgot the sugar?? IDK....

The prices are always as high as they can make them without sending everyone running out of town for groceries, but half the town is not a big deal for them.

I really wish they would teach these kids how to bag properly... I brought 2 insulated bags & a regular large reusable, I told the bagger "this one is for frozen, this one is for refrigeratorated, and this one is for dry goods" I had to rebag everything at my car because they mixed frozen food with non perishables & overstuffed the freezer bag & put all the non food items (like Ziploc bags & aluminum foil) in the refrigerator bag.... How hard is it to figure out when I even organize it as I'm placing my items on the belt! When you drive an hour for groceries you should at least get a...

I prefer big y over all the other grocery stores near Somers Ct...

However, I just reammended my review.

The bread they make has been stale lately.

Big Concern!! Their meat isn't as fresh as you would think. Double wrapped meats are a Huge Red Flag!.

Bought some bone in pork chops on sale and they were very sub par.. I noticed that they were double wrapped.. which means that they were pulled from the line and wrapped again, adding another week to the 'sell by date'... I'm actually seriously interested in whether or not that they are actually selling, 'choice' meat...

If I were a shopper who could buy their meats from a business that says they have choice, and it's a small shop.. I'd trust it more than Big Y... I used to use this brand as a staple, but after finding alot of double wrapped meat.. I can only imagine the rest of the products there. Even the vegetables look old.

Btw, this isn't an indictment for this location, it's on at least 4.. Stafford, Enfield, Ellington in CT and East Longmeadow in...
